 Yesterday I watched Shirley, which is a fictional thriller based on Shirley Jackson and her husband. 



It's a great movie, but it's not going to be for everyone. No one is really "likeable", whooooo boy is that a fucked up marriage, and it nailed that unsettling quality that is the hallmark of Shirley Jackson's writing. Tonally, it's a lot like the movie version of We Have Always Lived in the Castle or Stoker

Now that I've seen it, I want to go read reviews; I suspect that much like Midsommar, there is going to be a sharp gender divide in reactions to this movie. As I said to [personal profile] thatyourefuse  I think this movie will resonate more with non-neurotypical women.
