Ugh

( Aug. 9th, 2010 11:57 am)
You know what type of nightmare I particularly dislike? One where it's a seemingly never-ending story of TRYING TO FALL ASLEEP and failing.

When I reached the point in the nightmare of being on the way to the office and crying because I was so tired, I WOKE MYSELF UP. Woke myself up, wiped my eyes and sniffled a bit, and then tried to go back to sleep.

To be clear: I had no problem falling asleep. I WAS asleep! I just had an ongoing nightmare that I couldn't sleep. Which, oh joy, causes the same sort of after-effects and symptoms as if I didn't sleep at all. I am not pleased.

So, yeah. Guess who's working from home today? I may beseech the Stroppy One to do an emergency cupcake run for me.

Oh, I HAD to answer this one.

If money was no object*? Our house would look like Tim Burton had re-designed the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. With pink accents. Stripes! Wacky, slightly off-kilter and creepy Victorian knick-knacks and furniture! Secret passages! A ballroom! Fainting couches! A library!

*Okay, if money were no object and I successfully hypnotized the Stroppy One. His design sense is not quite as ... whimsical as mine.

I ... I don't really like to cook, that much. I know how to (unlike, say, MY SPOUSE), I just don't like doing it. There's all the planning, and the prep, and the clean-up. Ugh.

I LOVE food. And I am always impressed by my friends who love cooking and do it well. I just know that I am not one of those people.

This means that when Heather, our dietitian friend who has been crashing with us for a few months and who LOVES to cook, leaves the nest and sets up her new apartment? I am going to be a very woeful cupcake. Because I will have to start cooking again.
