I'm not going to have a lot of time for LJ (and assorted Internetty places I can usually be found) for a bit, because I need to get acclimated to the new job. Tomorrow I finish up New Employee Orientation*, then go to my first meeting with the new team. Whee!
Oh, and
clovisdvlbunny has promised me that when he rules the world, mangling words to make marketing or HR -jargon out of them will be a crime punishable by slow torture. Hopefully my instinctive eye-rolling at every utterance of 'onboarding' wasn't too noticeable.
*At the start of today's orientation extravaganza, the HR munchkin was getting random people to "tell their stories" (oooh, sharing with the class! My favorite!), and a guy sitting in the row ahead of me said "A few years ago I interviewed for a different position here, and was in one of the cafeterias for part of it. That young lady (indicating me) walked by wearing the most enormous hat I've ever seen, and I completely lost track of what I was saying for about 15 minutes. It's nice to see she's here, too." I was vastly amused.
