Spent all day fighting off combined attacks of the Body Image and Talent Demons. The internal monologue went something like "I am not fat and ugly, and I have all sorts of employable skills. Shut up, voices in the back of my head".

I have GOT to get back to using the belly dance tapes - I haven't in about 3 weeks. I am taking some comfort in the knowledge that I HAVE been using the Accursed Machine, dancing like a fiend every Thursday, and eating fairly healthily. Of course, the eating in a healthful manner may go out the window, as a friend just informed me of the existence of lavender honey ice cream.

I spent part of the day trying out an idea I had involving blank paper fans, acrylic paint, and REALLY BIG stamps. Nope, didn't work quite the way I hoped; I think I am going to need to stick to using smaller rubber stamps on the fans, and just do repeating patterns. Which is a shame, because I wanted to use a really big bat as the center image on one of the fans. The next idea is to see if a stencil would work better for a large image on a fan.

The rest of the day I lazed around reading The Falcon at the Portal by Elizabeth Peters. I feel kind of naughty for reading it, as I haven't read the 3 books previous to it in the series. However, I've already read He Shall Thunder in the Sky, which is the book that comes after Falcon, so the damage is done. Besides, they're still a lot of fun, even out of order. Once the other 3 books turn up in the mail, I'll probably read them all (the new 3 and then these 2) straight through again. My brain feels like mush, so I feel justified reading wacky Victorian/Edwardian -era Egyptology mysteries.

Tomorrow includes possibly sewing a chemise for WM, and going to Venus to look at a reproduction black wool Edwardian riding habit, which I have first dibs on for buying. On the list as "things I should do" for the rest of the week are: re-reading the section on linked external style sheets for the web and applying that knowledge to my website, finishing an overdress, altering a black stretch velvet jacket, and adding a new internal headband to the Mad Hatter hat I snaffled from LoyalToady. See, all productive, good things to do. Maybe all of that will make the demons shut up.
