Now, I don't do resolutions. Because no matter how good my intentions are, as soon as I label something a "resolution", there is a better than even chance that I won't actually follow through. Besides, that whole resolution = guilt (most of the time) thing, feh. I don't wanna deal with it.
Having said that, I still have some things I intend on ... working on for 2002. And if I state them here in a vaguely public place, maybe it will keep me honest about them.
So without further ado or waffling ...
1. Spend time with the people who are important to me. That means deciding just who IS important to me, and who are casual social accquaintences that I can deal with for a few hours but that I really don't want to work on strengthening our friendship.
2. QUIT worrying about the goddamn numbers on the scale. "I am not a number!" Yeah, whatever. I know I shouldn't worry about them, but realizing that I broke a personal "I will never weigh that much" barrier leads to angst. But hey! I'm an inch and a half smaller on all my measurements, so that's some progress.
3. Work on my writing. This includes finally getting the GMM columns together and shopped around for a book contract. This means sitting down and finally writing the various little stories for a kids' book that have been rattling around in my head.
4. Quit tolerating meanness in others. "I'm just teasing" is not a good excuse for saying unkind or snarky things, and stopped being one after a person gets past the age of 6. There is no reason for me (or anyone, really) to put up with people being mean. Yes, some allowances can be made if the other person is in a bad mood, but still. Being in a bad mood doesn't mean you get to be a jerk to others.
5. Spend more time working on my personal magic. I'm loath to say "work on my spirituality", 'cos that doesn't quite cover it AND makes it sound like I'm going to become more religious. Nope, that's not it. I want to do more research on herbal magic & suchlike, and I really want to buckle down to studying Tarot.
huh. There are other things, of course. Quit worrying that I don't really know to do my job, learn a programming language, organize more social events, blah blah blah. But those 5 are the biggies.
