Today on Tiny Toon Adventures involves lurching around the house, with occasional pauses to try and remember what the heck I was about to go work on. This is because I didn't fall asleep until some time after 5:30AM.
stroppy_baggage thankfully let me sleep until almost noon, but my eyes have that hot itchy lack of sleep feeling, my skin feels too tight, and my attention span ... isn't.
What I *really* need to do today is find things that will work as samples of my editing work to take to the informational interview tomorrow*. This is a bit problematic, because I don't usually keep copies of the things I edit when I'm on a contract gig (and I'm not really sure if I'm actually allowed to). I just spent a bit of time poking around A Certain Website for the various things I worked on all last year, and was very annoyed to discover that the site automatically re-directs me to the Mac versions of everything. Which would be okay, except that the Mac versions have extremely stripped-down help files, and none of them are the files I worked on. Vexing, says I. Next plan is to look at the business plan I edited in '04 for a start-up, see how much of the confidential stuff I can strip out, and use *that* as a sample.
In between trying to find editing samples today, I'm going to drink a lot of decaf blueberry tea (antioxidants to try and rid my system of sleep-dep toxins), and work on modifying a certain pattern I have to create a waist-length princess-seamed bodice template. I have these vague plans, you see, of eventually making dresses that have princess-seamed bodices and knee-length circle skirts. But I need to work on my princess-seam skills.
*This is the first time I have *ever* been asked to bring samples of my editing work to any interview, informational or otherwise. Is this a standard thing that I've just managed to dodge over the years?

That was Her Nibs yesterday, due to our kid's squirreliness. (I fared a little better thanks to ear plugs.)

However, I have become fed-up enough with the seeming simplicity of princess seams to buckle down and try my hand at them again, and THIS time, I'm going to make lots and lots of muslins. I don't want to, because I am impatient, but I know that's the only way I'm going to improve my skills.

Keep us updated on your princess seam progress. I may be trying that soon myself.
Good luck with the informational interview. *Sends Good Job Getting Mojo*

Sleep is also a good use of times, but... dresses.
