A new lesson is up at Gothic Charm School. Go forth, read, and then tell people.

*deep bow*

You are wonderful. We love you.

A friend of mine looks like a very normal person (but for the dimple piercings), and there I am in the balcony at Death Guild last week with a friend who doesn't come out to clubs very often when Mr. Normal But For Dimple Piercings steps onto the dance floor in jeans and a tee-shirt. "Wuh oh," says my friend, "a tourist."

And then Dimples started to dance. He's been in the scene her for, oh, a decade? :) Most graceful dancer in the world. But if I didn't know who he is, I'd have thought the same thing.

I never understand why tourists get beligerent with us. It is, as you've said, not like we're the weird ones.

As far as I can recall, no tourist has ever given me grief. That's either because I haven't been around long enough or I scare them away.

great subject.

And I completely agree with your perspective on it.

So if I go to the goth club with you, I'm all good as an accessory to a goth, right?

Yes. Not to mention that there would have been a full day of playing with clothes, hair, and makeup before club-going, because Plei and I want to play dress-up with you. :)

LOVE the article!

you should have witnessed my ambassador work for the integration of goths and the citizens of Kent on Saturday...

LOL, maybe thats what I should do: since I got the *damnedable* title of ms gothic seattle, I should run interference between the goths and tourists! It is now my mission. Thank you, Lady of the Manners.

;P

Hmm. I haven't seen any notice on the LJ feed yet. I wonder if it's a delay or if it's simply not going to work.

Typically, it literally just turned up.

Do you want to set the timestamp to something other than GMT? Currently that puts it 8 hours ahead of Pacific Time.

I don't know how to change the timestamp on the feed, and I don't have time (ha!) right this instant to figure it out.

psst. I sent you an email.

and I like the article. :D

I really enjoyed the article. Have a lot of norms found their way to your column? I am hoping, because so many of them need to see this.
