While rummaging around in one of the wardrobes the other night, I dug out my pair of Perfect Leather Ankle Boots. I've had these things for 12 or 13 years, and have never found another pair of boots as good. (And believe me, I've looked. Oh, how I've looked.)*
The problem is, the toes are ... battered. In fact, worn through on the right boot. The heels are also a bit worn, but I know those can be fixed. I just don't know if the battered & worn-through toes are fixable. Should I just take them to my usual shoe repair place and make pitiful noises? Or are they a completely lost cause?
*The closest I have found to a replacement pair are these 'turn of the century walking shoes' (yes, a clicky link!), but I want to find out if my Perfect Leather Ankle Boots can be repaired before I plunk down $149 + s&h.

(They're lace-up, somewhat pointy-toed granny boots, with a 2" walking heel. They're *perfect*, and I haven't ever seen a duplicate pair. I guess I'll have The Husband take them to the shoe repair place tomorrow.)

I am betting that your shoe repair man can do this though. He can do so many other things, it would be stunning if he could not do this.
And... Speaking of getting together...
when were you wanting to do the thing with the stuff? I am working nights again next week. But I can probably rearrange my weekends so that I can spend time with you. (only need to rearrange *this* weekend a tiny bit, so don't fret, next weekend is all clear.)

I've looked at their web site a whole lot and i'm a little bit in love, but my "specially evolved" feet aren't suited to typical mail order. I don't suppose they're conveniently located somewhere suitable for a day trip?

I just looked at the Renton Western Wear website, i had no idea they didn't just sell Stetson hats and belt buckles shaped like the state of Texas. If i can remember where i left my smelling salts, i'll be going there this weekend.

I know! Freaky, isn't it.
I have the leather & lace 'Western wedding boots', and they're quite nice. I would prefer a slightly shorter heel, but not by much. If my Perfect Leather Boots can't be fixed, I will probably make the trip to Renton and buy a pair of the 'Western wedding boots' in all leather.
