Sequined mini top hat w/ ostrich plumes & tulle!

So cute! Yes, I know, I could probably make something very similar. But, y'know, tired. And somewhat lazy. Oh, and busy, because September & October are always busy months for me.

The form for that hat is at DnC for $2. A pack of black nylon circles is $3 and a handfull of plums you already have. There isn't even a hatband on that to cover up where they hot glued everything to it.

That's not anything you couldn't do in 10 minutes and you're not *THAT* busy...

*blink*

OK, in an effort to be efficient with time that came out a lot more pissy than intended.

Sorry. :-)

Feh. I didn' read it as pissy. Jilli needs someone to talk her off the ledge.

Didn't come out pissy at all. :)

I know, I know. So easy to make. Laaaaaaaazy.

similar to my response, I have been watching too much kids tv apparently... I had the Bob the Builder catch phrase appear, like magic, when I looked at it -
"can we build it? YES WE CAN!"

Pshh, and better by heaps and bounds.

DnC came to mind for me as well. Perhaps a modivational hat-making social and tea party is in order?

Pardon me for interrupting, but I just wanted to step in and clarify some things if that's okay. I caught a link to this post on my stats page.

The sequins aren't hot glued, so there is really no need for a hatband. I like to stitch things on for a little more sturdiness and durability, in combination with using millinery glue. If a customer wants a band I can put one on.

The hats are also lined in satin. There are about eight to ten plumes that are of a higher quality than the kind you get at the craft store. I also cut the tulle from yardage, not from the craft circles.

Ooh, thank you for the extra information! I appreciate you coming and letting me know those details.

(I think your work is lovely. I dabble in millinery myself, so I like to see what others are doing. That was part of the 'yes, I probably could make one myself' reasoning. But if you've gone to the trouble to sew the sequins on, that's probably a little more effort than I'd be willing to expend on my own. ::grin::)

No problem! Thank you for being so gracious and letting me comment to explain a bit! :-) I'm also a millinery afficionado, and seem to have gotten myself rather overwhelmed by my recent Schiaparelli collecting phase.

Thank you for your kind words about my work! I think my Couture items are a little more lovely because they're so extravagant, but they're a little harder to sell for the same reason. The Collection items are a bit simpler, much more affordable and can be worn out and about a bit more.

Thanks again, hon!

Where [livejournal.com profile] vienna_le_rouge's tastes and yours intersect. It is to laugh.

want want want

but maybe with slightly less plumage and poof, more of a going down the back look. See, that is what gets me into trouble- I always want costumey things, but done differently.

lol

No. You'd look like Liza Minelli in Cabaret on absinthe.
