That website I write for? The one I've been with for what feels like a gazillion years? The one that owes me a fair chunk of money? Yeah, them

They're organizing a convention in January.

They've signed the paperwork with the hotel. They have special guests.

Anyone have any helpful suggestions as to how I (politely) lean on my webmaster to make him pay me before he blows any more money on Spookycon?

grrrrrr

The convention itself sounds like it could be fun. There will be some people I like there, and hey! San Francisco! But dammit, I'd like the over-three-hundred-dollars I'm owed for my writing.

hmph.

I know from professional, but not polite here...

The *professional* way would be to submit an invoice for services rendered with a reminder that the bill is past due.

Perhaps you could send him a reminder/request asking him when/how soon you can expect your payment. Let him know the convention sounds fun. Maybe do a "hi, how ya doing" kinda email.

Just my ideas.

Just got home btw. trip went better than I hoped, and I have a big and multi-hatted task ahead of me. :) I will call you soon.

*smoochies*

Here's a non-polite suggestion.

Does their site currently feature any of your columns that they haven't technically paid for? Send them a note saying that since no payment has been forthcoming, you must regretfully insist that they remove the columns immediately. They do not have the right to post the content unless it has been paid for, and if you are indeed one of their bigger draws, maybe this will get them to pungle up. And obviously you don't want to send them any more content until this is resolved. Yes, this has the potential to end your relationship with them, but how badly do you want to get paid?

Pretty bitchy, for me.
