Y'know how I spent my evening?

Making an elaborate choker out of vintage black lace, garnets set in silver, blood-red crystal beads & drops, and a pendant that is the Dracul family crest in silver, encased in glass, with a bit of soil from castle Dracula*. While watching an extremely silly, over-the-top, Gothic! Romance! movie.

I realized that I am indeed going to have to call this my ... for the blood is the life ... choker. Go ahead, laugh. I giggled at the thought myself.

*I've had this pendant for, goodness, over ten years now. Some boy bought it for me at a convention long, long ago. I still have the box it came in and the little certificate of authenticity. I've looked and looked all over the intryweb, but haven't been able to find any info about it, so no clicky-links for people to gaze upon in amusement.

I can't wait to see it. I'll probably want one.

dracula family crest

A google image search brought up a bunch of rings but also this page:

Vlad's personal crest was actually the dragon with the cross, it seems.

The choker sounds lovely. Well, it's hard for me to picture the Dracul pendant, but the rest sounds beautiful.

Not unless I can bribe a friend with a camera, because the power cord to the household digital camera has gone missing.

it is quite possible that I may die if I do not get to see this treasure at some point.

In fact, I think it is inevitable.

But I do hope you get a picture posted someday!

It was the recent version of Phantom of the Opera. It's complete and utter tripe, but it's SO pretty, and hits SO many of the gothic romance clichés!

aahhhh...haven't seen it yet as was on in middle of move and so slipped my mind to go while dealing with general stressy business of shifting halfway across the country (granted, though, my entire country will fit into New York State several times over)...but the trailer looked simply fantastic in terms of clothes. Will eventually abuse a friends magic staff discount card and buy it on DVD...

...same goes for CHarlie and the Chocolate Factory which saw yesterday and just LOVED. JD so fabulously insane in a fragile, may-just-shatter kind of a way...and again, the clothes !!! Mind you, I'll watch nay old tripe if it has gorgeous gothy cossies in it...
