I had a lovely time dancing at the Vogue last night with [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson and [livejournal.com profile] weaselmom's boy. A lovely time, that is, until the migraine that had been lurking around the edges of my brain for two days decided to finally manifest in all its brain-stabbing glory. Kij very kindly drove me home, where I laid in an extremely hot bath with lots of lavender oil added to it. Laying with my head almost completely submerged helped, but I figured I'd take one of my last, precious muscle relaxers to make sure.

You would think that a hot bath and a muscle relaxer would cause me to fall asleep right away, wouldn't you? Silly, silly people. Silly, silly me for thinking that, too. I finally fell asleep some time around 3AM.

Thankfully, my migraine seems to be mostly gone today. My neck is still very tender and a bit twinge-y (my migraines are all muscle-tension related), but so far, so good. However, after I get home from my day of working late, I think I'm going to take another hot bath, and then go to bed early. Admit it, you all want to be me with my oh-so glamorous life.

Are you taking Imitrex or Frova or any of the other newish Migraine meds? They can be very helpful--although I wouldn't skip the hot bath, either.

I haven't tried any of the various migraine meds, because I'm stubborn and I don't want to admit that I might need them. Also because I'm dragging my feet about making an appointment with my doctor to talk about Other Stuff. But, when I FINALLY go see my doctor, I will ask him about migraine meds.

If you're getting neck pain/muscle funkiness after headaches, you might not be having migraines. I went through the whole route with the "you've just got migraines" diagnosis, and NOTHING migraine-related worked. What worked in the beginning was massage, and it just kept getting worse as the cumulative stress piled on.

Let me know if you are interested in trying the non-drug route...I'm always willing to share this knowledge. If someone else suffers less, that's excellent... (And sorry to hear your life is not as glamorous as it seems from your lovely presence. May the headaches get better and glamour increase...)

Take that, naughty little men in your skull!

As I sit here looking at my calendar for the 24th and the entire Bat Mitzvah weekend of the 30th, I wonder if anybody will be going out on the 27th. Is it too soon to tell?

Did you see that Salon interview with Paula Kamen about her book All in My Head? It's pretty fascinating...

Admit it, you all want to be me with my oh-so glamorous life.

I don't think I have the stamina for the endless whirlwind of insomnia, working late, hot baths, and early to bed....

Wait. I think I just described my own life. Huh. I have no devilbunny though.
