The first episode of The Vampire Lestat is everything I wanted. There he is, my gloriously messy Brat Prince. Poor impulse control, hiding his insecurities and broken heart by performing hedonism, and yes, my egotistical vampire rock star boyfriend.

There’s a great fan theory going around related to the first scenes, and I agree with it. (It ties into later books of the series, so I won’t go into it. But it makes SO MUCH SENSE.) 

I haven't gone looking for discussion around this, but I'm curious as to how the show fans who haven't read the books are dealing with the end of the first episode. Because yes, the trailers implied they were Going There, but whoooooo, it's canon in the show, and I kinda want to see the people melting down about OMG PROBLEMATIC.

I didn't know whether they were going to include it and spouse said, "Oh yeah, they've said it will be introduced." That is WAY more than "introduction," sir.

I suspect that throwing it in cold is their way of softening the impact. It would be FAR harder to have unknowing folk deal with it if they'd already gotten to know the character.

Ohhh the meltdowns are already happening in a few places and it's kiiiiiiiiiiiinda glorious, I'm not going to lie.

I loved this episode SO much. This is the TVL adaptation I've been waiting for since 1993, and Sam Reid is performing the SHIT out this role.

While I know there will eventually be things in the season that I side-eye, YES, this is the adaptation I've been waiting for.

Sam Reid's performance is wild. For me, out of character, he's a nice, vaguely attractive man. But when he's playing Lestat, whoooooo boy. Yes please.
