Up front: I’m fine, everything is ok. I went to the ER last night. I had sudden excruciating abdominal pain that caused muscle spasms that made it feel like my ribs were going to snap. Nothing showed up on a CT and X-ray, so they gave me a bunch of meds for acid and other stomach issues.

Because of all this, I learned that morphine doesn’t really do anything for me, and I am big mad about that. Especially because last night was the first time I described my pain level as a 10. Even with my ridiculously high pain tolerance, I was writhing in pain and wanted to be knocked out.

I’M FINE. We have no idea what caused this, but I’m fine.

I'm glad you're home and better! But I hope someone figures out how to prevent this from happening again!

SOMETHING is happening in your body that is not *fine*. You are not DYING, nothing is BROKEN, you are INTACT. But until that pain is ALL GONE, you are not "fine".

Just saying.

That said, I am glad you are okay. I am not thrilled that morphine does nothing for you, but I am also not surprised. Alas. It's like the #1 go-to for big pain.

Imma have skeptical face until you have a clean follow-up with your new GP. Metabolic panel come back all clean? Do you have a referral to gastro for follow-up?

Do I think you WILL BE fine? yes, absolutely. I just think this deserves some looking into beyond the ER because I know your high pain tolerance, and you at 10 is not even remotely pretending to be anything that resembles okay. Particularly when the pain meds don't work.

What Staxxy said.

Having had Mysterious Ailments, Jilli, I sincerely hope that yours does not long remain mysterious, and is easily treated.

There is nothing so frustrating as being professionally shrugged at. I hope that it was either a one off, or they figure it out quickly.
