- Work is work. Because I'm a manager AND I'm one of two people trying to come up with solutions to a company-wide thing (there are times when the software side of the company, where I am, acts like we're still a startup), early-morning meetings are a thing that happens frequently. Well, early morning for me, meaning 8 or 9am. Multiple early meetings not only mean I'm short on sleep, but increase the chances of migraines. I'd love to be able to shift my sleep schedule so I could fall asleep earlier and not feel like death on those days, but my body resists any attempt at that.
- Speaking of migraines: my neurologist prescribed me a new migraine interrupt med, Ubrelvy. It does a great job of gradually getting rid of the pain and light sensitivity, but leaves me with a lot of brain fog and some vertigo. Whatever, I'll take that over excruciating pain, even if it leaves me useless for the rest of the day. Relatedly, I spent yesterday on the couch, rewatching S2 of Interview with the Vampire.
- I need to organize a specific shopping trip out with some friends, because I need to go to Dollar Tree, Joann's, WalMart, and possibly Target. Why those stores? Because I have a plan to write a Gothic Charm School about some basic black clothes from inexpensive big box stores and altering/styling them to be goth outfits. I've seen too many posts from people who say it's too expensive to be goth, they can't afford the clothes. Apparently the sacred DIY knowledge has been lost, and people don't grasp that a key part of classic goth style is spending time in front of a mirror while you mix and match things.
- Because of the ongoing hot weather, I leave the house maybe once a week. I'm not a fan of heat and sun to begin with, and my chronic health issues and stack of medications mean heat and sun can wipe me out pretty badly. This is one of the many reasons my wardrobe has mostly switched to natural fibers.
- Speaking of my need for natural fibers: one of my favorite fashion companies released a collection based on Persephone, with all sorts of gorgeous dresses made from a pomegranate print. I pined over this one, but the rational side of my brain kicked in and said no paying that much money for 100% polyester, no matter how gorgeous the fabric is. I wish I could convince the Madwoman in the Attic to sew dresses from quilting fabric, but the idea offends her deep in her soul.

I often have this problem with the site Unique Vintage. Occasionally you’ll find something really good, but usually it’s cheaply made polyester that’s just not worth that much money.

And it is a good time for you to do DIY tutorials for GCS definitely! There are scads of new babybats that need those lessons, and have no one to teach them because they are gothing it up in an ocean of non-goths with no one to take them in hand. Le Sigh.
Also, polyester (even the prettiest kind) is the devil.
