I would like the emergencies to stop, thanks.

Dad is back in the hospital, with congestive heart failure, problems breathing, and the ongoing mystery anemia. That's all I know right now, but I will be heading out shortly to see him and hopefully get more details.

Because bonus anxiety is always a great gift-with-purchase: this time, he's at the same hospital Mom was at before she died. Thank G-D my psych refilled my anti-anxiety meds the other week.

I just texted with Dad so I am up to speed on what he is saying. I am curious to know what he is NOT saying, obviously.

I hope the mysteries are solved quickly and your dad feels better soon! My dad (81 tomorrow) has been in heart failure (idiopathic) for over a decade now, and the ups and downs have been scary and confusing. It's hard when our folks start experiencing issues like this, especially when they don't talk about it with us--getting blindsided over and over is exhausting, frustrating and frightening. My dad does the exact same things you've described with yours and it is tough, even though I know he's not being malicious. Probably he thinks it is somehow helpful, even though I have definitely explained that it is not. All this to say, as everyone else has, I hope the best for you and your family. I also hope you are all able to extend each other and yourselves some grace because this is strange territory. ::tea, emotional support bunnies::
