I finally gave in and got an Apple watch. (Thank you evil mega shopping site Prime day.) The main reason I got it is the health features. I have learned that left to my own devices, I won't exercise, but if a tiny robot nanny buzzes and tells me I need to stand up and move around, I'll do it. The pedometer is good because I'll look at it and try to reach a step goal.

If I wear it to bed, tiny robot nanny will track my sleep patterns. Thank goodness they haven't (yet) attached emojis to that app, because I don't know how many days in a row I could deal with the tiny robot nanny making a sad/worried face at me because my sleep is terrible.

Plus y'know, mail, messages, music, audiobooks, all that sort of stuff. I am NOT installing any social media apps on it whatsoever (I don't even know if you can), because that seems like a quick path to crazytown.

And I've amused myself with my watch face. I've given it two photos to rotate: the Ace of Pumpkins (pentacles) and the Eight of Bats (swords). Maybe seeing the "get out of your own way" card on my wrist (in addition to having the message tattooed on my opposite arm) will make me remember that bit of advice.

Apple watch

I've noticed that they're popular with real estate agents. Not that anyone will mistake you for one, and that's a good thing.

I won't exercise

As much as I'd love to be your slightly sadistic workout buddy, I think this is a more effective solution. Go you!

I admit, I mostly bought and use my Apple Watch as a way to find my phone when I lose it in my house….I think that and looking at the time, and occasionally my heart rate, is 99% of what I use it for!

The Apple Watch does keep me moving to meet goals. I use it for push notifications with the house security cameras and alerts from my insulin pump. I ask the watch to find my iPhone at least once a day.
