I knew the prep for the colonoscopy would be Not Fun, but I didn't quite realize HOW horrible I'd feel. Ugh. Not at all helped by my not sleeping that night. By the time I went to the medical office, I had been awake for not quite 24 hours. But the procedure itself was fine; everyone had told me it would be the easiest part of the whole thing, and they were not wrong. I came home, took my morning meds, slept a few hours, and then spent the rest of the day on the couch watching movies and slowly eating my way through the stack of pancakes the Madwoman in the attic had made for me. I went to bed around 9, passed out probably at 9:30, and didn't get out of bed until 11:30 this morning. Mmmmm, sleep.

I took today off, too, because I knew there was no way I'd be ready to dive back into meeting hell. Today will probably involve more movies, some hand sewing, and maybe plotting out the design for my next long beaded strand.

I have a clothing dilemma. I have a thing happening this summer where I absolutely need to wear long pants to protect my legs. (I can probably wear a skirt over them, but I have to check once the thing has been confirmed.) Pants?!

The idea I came up with in order to have a vague approximation of my preferred silhouette: uh, bell-bottoms. From my shoes up, the outfit would be:
Anyone have other suggestions? Gently mocking laughter that I'm going to have to wear pants AND that I'm considering bell-bottoms?

Ooh, I thought I'd bought enough Holy Clothing to last the rest of my life a few years ago. Did not need to know about the Avery -- that is tremendously cute.

Maybe if you can get confirmation on a skirt or dress over them, what about something like black corduroy leggings? Or velvet leggings, if that provides enough protection?

Hopefully, your results were good. If so, then you have a decade until the next one!

Wide leg pants so you don't get that taper in and out look with bell bottoms. Something like this:

or search for long culottes. Unless you are running they look like a skirt.

I was going to suggest Palazzo pants as well.

(also, fyi J: your pants link goes to the skirt as well as your skirt link)

I live in leggings, and often pair with a skirt or dress.

Congrats on pushing through the awfulness--I'm due for my three-year post-cancer followup 'scopy this year and I'm just dreading it. It's so horrible, though at least last time for my one-year followup, they gave me a different liquid to drink and so I didn't have the other type of...effluvia. I really wish they'd work on better options for the prep--I think most of what keeps people from doing this is that godawful first part, and if they can develop like robot surgeons, why can't they fix this part of the process?

I had bowel prep for sex reassignment just like the kind people do for colonoscopies. The morning of the surgery Dr. Snip asked me with a shit-eating grin, "Did you have a nice bowel prep?"
Through gritted teeth I replied, "It was all right."

You know I'm all about the wild leggings. And bell bottoms? The next thing you know you'll be wanting to go to raves with me, which would be splendid!

Sympathies for the colonoscopy. I had my first one last summer and it was ... and prep was an experience. o.O I woke during the last half of it and got to watch the camera tour of so much pink fluffy-looking tissue. I was very glad it didn't hurt.

I'm going to suggest more Holy Clothing stuff. I -love- their pants: comfortable, not horribly tight, deep enough pockets so I don't need a purse.
