I hope everyone had a comfortable and in some way joyous NYE.
We spent the evening watching silly things: we watched a whole bunch of Two Minutes to Late Night, which is run by Gwarsinio Hall. Various metal musicians covering classic metal songs, each recording their part at home, and the whole thing being mixed together. It is FANTASTIC.
Then we switched to the O'Keefe Music Foundation channel; they're an organization that offers free music lessons, music camps, recording sessions, and music video production to kids. I first learned about them when the Stroppy One had me watch the video for their version of "Cry Little Sister" from The Lost Boys, which promptly became my favorite version of the song ever. Over the course of watching a lot of their videos, I learned that my objection to Tool is the lead singer's voice; have the same song performed by a talented young lady and I am THERE.
(Also, while this cover of "Bloodletting" isn't amazing as some of the other performances, my vampire-obsessed 7 y.o. self (I started young, okay?) wants to reach through time and become besties with this girl.)
Then we watched The Incredibles I and II. At the stroke of midnight, the line that had just been spoken was "YAY ME!". I'll take that as a hopeful omen.
