Today the Devilbunny was subjected to a b a t h and was not particularly thrilled about it. (He never is.)

However, because I’d recently done one of my occasional searches on “the best way to clean a stuffed animal” (and ignored anything that mentioned a washing machine) I had a new brush with very fine and flexible wire bristles. (IIRC, it’s something called a “slicker brush”, and it’s usually used for pet grooming).

After Clovis had suffered the indignity of being misted with bunny wash, gently rubbed with a lightly damp cloth, and sulked in a nest of Halloween towels while drying, there was The Brushing. Over TWO HOURS of slow and meticulous brushing.

I will I’ll post photos at a later date, but know this: Clovis hasn’t been this fluffy in possibly a decade. He’s had baths, but now he looks like he might have drained the life essence from someone.

(If any of you are feeling more wan and fatigued than usual, Clovis says thank you and not to worry, you’ll make a full recovery.)

Clovis's care, keeping, and accoutrement have given me so much inspiration in fostering relationships with my own plush. Thank you both for sharing!

I was wondering how you attach ties etc, as mentioned in a previous post? Real ones that around the neck? clipped or sewn on? I have a bear that would love one, but I'm not sure how to get started.

Link to this magic brush, please? I actually used a comb to try and get through Bellamy's knotty fur. I really really do not want to unstuff him to wash his fur and replace his stuffing. But he needs a really good surface treatment. And what is this bunny wash of which you speak? I've been frothing baby shampoo with a fork (which is what I use on the mohair beasts) and using that.

You know, give me hard-stuffed mohair beasts any day. Long, tedious process, but eminently do-able. Soft-stuffed synthetic plush defeats me.

Hmm. I wonder if those small, flexible "bristles" would do the trick? I shall have to order one and try it. Thanks!
