Because of the Exciting and Terrifying Back ThingTM at the beginning of the year, I have slid back into my sloth-like ways with a vengeance. I hate exercise no matter what, but now there's my vague fear of something making my back do the thing again. (While I wouldn't go to the hospital if there is a next time, heavy pain medication is nowhere near as fun as I thought it would be, and using a walker is just ugh.)

So. I need to exercise. I'm going to try to actually go for walks in the evening, when the Dreaded Orb is setting*, but I also know I need to do something that works my core muscles that doesn't involve lying on the floor.

... hey Self, isn't there a stack of belly dance exercise for beginners DVDs over there? Didn't you really like that when you were using them, uh, 15 years ago?

I guess I know what I'm trying this evening.

*I keep hoping that I'll eventually get the really cool symptoms of vampirism like mind control or being able to turn into a cloud of bats, because these sensitivity to garlic and sunlight ones are boring.

I don't think of it as exercise. I think of it as "getting in shape to enjoy Disneyland properly when it's once again possible".

We are walking after 8pm and probably after dark with 90 degree weather tomorrow. The bats are out after sunset so bonus points for bat love.

The comment about Disneyland cracks me up. There is no way I could pull a 20,000 step day at Disneyland right now. Not even theme park back in shape is an all time low.

There are ever so many exercises one can do using a chair. Look them up on Pinterest, or check my exercise board there. I loathe getting down on the floor and have found that these, and walking keep me mostly upright and out of the wheelchair.
