Thursday night I went to a stadium concert by the most ridiculous big label pop-Satanism metal band that currently exists: Ghost.

When I say ridiculous, I'm not kidding. There's an entire storyline. The guy who created the band freely admits that he's created a brand with power chords and pop-culture Satanic flavored occult soap opera. (He's also the only known member of the band. The rest of the band - the Nameless Ghouls - all wear masks, and are essentially hired musicians.)

The show was great. Bombast everywhere, massive lighting effects, pyro, glitter cannons, the works. Which is what I go to stadium shows for, so yay!

HOWEVER, the opening band, Nothing More, were dreadful. In fact, they were possibly the worst band I've seen, and that's saying something. They were all off-key, but not in the same way and not in a way that was obviously a deliberate artistic choice. Then they closed their set with a cover of <i>"We Will Rock You"</i>. A horrible nu-metal + dubstep cover. That was off-key.

But Ghost? They were great.

I love Ghost! I play their music all the time at the Store much to the amusement/consternation of the owner/my roommate. :D

That show clearly needed a Vampire Witch Queen.
