On the day of release for both Prince Lestat and Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis, I liveblogged my reading over on Tumblr. Which means that with the impending doom upcoming release of Blood Communion, I'm going to be doing it again. Hell, I'm even rereading Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis - of my own free will - to be ready for this no doubt hilarious and cracky nonsense.

(To be clear, I found Prince Lestat to be delightful in a bonkers, "this is Anne Rice's self-indulgent fanfic" sort of way. Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis? It had some entertaining parts, but on the whole? Atlantis. Replimoids sent to destroy mammals and their squishy feelings. SPAAAAAAACE BIIIIIIIRDS. Oh, and vampires were created from the ghost of the superior, original Replimoid that the SPAAAAAAACE BIIIIIIIRDS made and sent to Earth. Now imagine all of that in Ms. Rice's bombastic, "scholarly", and "philosophical" writing style, with not enough emphasis on drama queen vampires wearing velvet frock coats.)

Have you read any of her Jesus fanfic? It’s a special kind of unintentional hilarious.

I haven't read any of these later Vampire Chronicles but I can tell from this post that I want to. HAHA. Realms of Atlantis in particular sounds incredible. I can't even imagine what "space birds" are or what they have to do with vampires but I am already laughing!

You're taking one for the team. I bought a used copy of Prince Lestat, intending to read it on a long plane flight somewhere as mindless distraction, but have never opened it.

I don't blame you for any lack of enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
  • I just finished Old Man's War - Scalzi is a less problematic Heinlein.
  • Started The Kitchen God's Wife - Too real. Amy Tan deserves all the good press.
  • I've got Crazy Rich Asians queued up. I am excite!

Oh, do keep us posted!

The closest I got to reading Twilight was a live blogging event. It was awesome.

Do you happen to have a link to your last liveblog handy? I was telling my partner about it the other day, and I think he'd find it delightful.
