Opening with a comment I made on Twitter:

Perks of still being in @NBCHannibal fandom: there are always new recipes. Fresh mozzarella, figs, and prosciutto.

(The prosciutto is not people.)

(Unless Whole Foods has *really* branched out.)

No, really. A lot of the good fic writers go out of their way to hunt through recipe websites to give Hannibal new things to cook, and give links!

On the one hand, Penny Dreadful was a show that piled on a bunch of my favorite tropes: Gothic literature! Vampires! Witches! Victorian occultism! Really great costumes! On the other hand: The final season was a mess! The final episode was infuriating enough that I refuse to watch it again!

Hannibal didn't have any supernatural elements (things you had to suspend belief like crazy for), and the showrunner went super self-indulgent in the final season. <-- UNDERSTATEMENT. Siouxsie Sioux came out of semi-retirement to write the song for the final episode ("Love Crime"), and it's pretty much the moody ballad of the Murder Husbands.

And yet, I think I've come around to Hannibal being my favorite show. I still adore Penny Dreadful, don't get me wrong. But Hannibal finally edged it out.

(Okay, fine. Hannibal also has a wider selection of really good fic. What? That's important.)

Hannibal had no spiders in credit scenes or really as a recurring effect either. So there's that too.

HOW RIGHT YOU ARE about Penny Dreadful's final season and especially the final episode. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in the conclusion of a series. It was even worse than the end of Dexter and that was also terrible beyond belief.

I haven't seen a single episode of Hannibal, but I'm going to take this post as a recommendation and check it out!
