Thing the First: I was in PDX overnight this weekend, for the cast & crew screening of My Summer As a Goth. The movie is just charming: a great coming-of-age story, with characters that ring true, and it gets goth right, IMO. (She says smugly, being the goth consultant for the film.)
A photo from outside the theatre:
That is the face of the future Vampire Witch Queen staring into the sun and trying not to burst into flames. But the bright light was worth it, because I really do like that photo.
Thing the Second: time to focus on Vampire Masquerade Ball prep! I was thinking of wearing a high-collared wine lace dickie under a black lace dress, and attaching a VERY SPARKLY sequined and beaded wine shawl to the neckline, shoulders, and back of the dress. With my usual black corset, a wine taffeta skirt, and a huge black and wine flower crown.
But! Now I'm trying to decide if I want to use the very dark wine lace dress that I unearthed in the depths of the closet instead of the black one, and wear the black taffeta skirt.
Pro: I haven't ever worn burgundy wine to a VMB, which is odd because it's one of my favorite colors.
Con: I have come to dislike how I looked in this outfit from Bats Day 2017. I feel ike I looked heavyset and frumpy in it:
Mind you, the burgundy wine outfit for VMB has a longer and darker dress, and would be worn with a corset. So maybe it would be good? I dunno, I guess I'll have to try everything on before I start stitching things to a dress.
(You missed my dithering about event outfits. Admit it.)

That said, I suspect that the best way to choose between the black lace and burgundy wine lace dress is to put them on with the rest of the outfit (sans shawl) and have a photo taken at 3/4 (the least flattering angle) and see which photo you are happier with. I am inclined to say the black lace over the burgundy others would be best because it would give you more diversity but never having worn just the almost-dried-blood to the VAMPIRE ball sounds like a tragedy waiting to be addressed.

Haha. Not even gonna lie. I totally did. :D I love your photos, too--the bright light did pay off! Your clothes are art.
I am looking forward to seeing the movie. I'm glad it has reached fruition and does justice to its subjects!!

I also like both pictures - although the 2nd one does make you look a bit *cough* chesty. Totally LOVE the hat in the 2nd pic, too.

Shyeah! I'm the Duchess of Dithershire myself. It's an excuse for me to text the lady I'm dating right before a night out.
