I swear, I need to find out if any of those import stores that we all went to in the 90s still exist anywhere in Seattle, and if they do, go see what their prices on silver jewelry are nowadays. I know I don't need anymore ankh pendants, but I keep seeing ones just like (all of) mine on eBay and Etsy for terrifying prices. The same goes for silver bangle bracelets of the sort that covered my arms in that era*, and if I'm going to even consider spending that sort of price**, they damn well better be actual silver.

Which leads me back to needing to search for those ancient, dusty import stores where we all bought flowy skirts, incense, and inexpensive silver jewelry. I think there's still one in the U-District, so I just need to scoot down there.

* Yes, my Eldergoth Nostalgia is yammering at me about needing silver bangles. Jingle, jingle, jingle. JINGLE.

**Dude. $40+ for 6 "silver" bangles? I don't think so.

And lace gloves! I remember those being the kind of thing you could just pick up, but no, the nineties are another country.

Try your local thrift stores and garage/yard sales, too. Some of the damndest things turn up in thrifts. Friend of mine just scored a This End Up chair for a paltry $25 last week. :)

Wow! This End Up furniture was pretty much proof you were a gazillionaire in 1994... It probably still looks good, too, justifying the need for a draft horse to move it across a room...

If you want bangles, Indian stores may be able to help you out. There's a few on the Eastside.

I know there are still shops at The Market, but I haven't checked for the other shops for a while. I am going to have to go downtown for Jury Duty the beginning of April, so I will look around for them then. I was just thinking of THAT ONE store that was around the corner (and across 1st) from the old Fleuvog store, the other day and wondering about the ankhs they had (I had one of those big ones with the heiroglyphics for a while, but it got caught on something and BROKE IN HALF).

Anyway, I will let you know what I find.
