Do I have bandom lyric references for everything? Yes, pretty much.

Aaaaanyway, last week involved some of the worst nights of sleep I've had in a long time, culminating in Friday night, which was probably THE worst night of sleep I've had in years: unable to fall completely to sleep, except for a few times which then had ongoing stress nightmares.

So, I spent all day Saturday not doing anything but trying not to cry from exhaustion and pain, Sunday taking it exceptionally easy, and going to bed early each night. I was in bed by 11:15! I stopped reading and turned off the light an hour later! This is freakishly early for me and my delayed sleep phase disorder, and it only worked because I was exhausted and took slightly higher doses of my sleepy meds.

Today was super-productive for the dayjob* ... right up until the exhaustion smacked me in the face again.

I'm trying to be good about self-care, I really am. And as several of you have pointed out, January has always been a difficult month for me, even before Mom died. I also know that I'm burning my candles at an accelerated rate, and that won't stop until early February. But I'm trying to keep it together. Just ... wish me luck?

*Things need to be super-productive for the dayjob, because we're a little over 2 weeks away from the general availability deadline. :: laughs a trifle hysterically ::

this is where I gently poke you to commit to only one event a month going forward. You are not as young as you once were, and having multiple events in a month lays you out flat. there are times that won't be avoidable, and we all know that, but you can try to not say yes to all the awesome things, because you really only have so much time and energy and day job is important. <3

you can get through January. you will have chocolate toast and steak tartare to help with that in the big C. <3

Part of my sleep issue research has turned up "yellow" vs "blue" spectrum lighting.

I know swapping out all the bright white LED's is kinda impossible in electronics, and the electronic whine (for some people) can also be an issue, and not everyone is willing to go through the hassle of swapping out bright whites for warms anyway.

However.

I've had *some* luck with Uvex's orange lenses. They block out the blue completely (looking at things is like being blue-blind, it's bizarre.) There's options for if you wear glasses and if you don't. They're also dirt cheap as far as weird "potential medical use" things go. :)

(Just don't try to sleep with them on unless you're in a recliner - they're not comfy on the face.)

I *try* to remember to wear them continuously from 2-3 hours before I want to go to bed. This is around the time I try to take melatonin, if I remember. :) When the last night is turned off or flipped over in the bedroom, I take off the orange glasses.
