I haven't heard anything about the only contestants being people that are hand-picked by the t; I think the committee members have been nagging their friends to enter, but then again, that's perfectly normal for this sort of thing.
All I *really* know about it is that I'm supposed to show up at 6:00, and that I get to spend the evening sitting at a table passing judgment on other people's gothic qualifications. That sort of thing ALWAYS amuses me, so I'm perfectly happy to be a judge.

the contest was announced several months ago, but the media just went out two weeks ago. it is an early night because the vogue wanted to do it before goth night, we have hosted this contest there for 3 out of 4 years. we have real sponsers, and real prizes- we are legit.
anyone can run, the contestants are not nominated. (arm twisting is permitted, though)
sure it's campy, but we put on a good show.
