Why is this happening so early in the evening and why was this only announced about 2 weeks ago. From all the stories I have heard, this thing seems like a joke. That the only contestants are the ones hand picked by the commitee.

I have no idea why it is happening so early in the evening. I'm pretty sure it was announced over two months ago, because that's when I started seeing posts about it.

I haven't heard anything about the only contestants being people that are hand-picked by the t; I think the committee members have been nagging their friends to enter, but then again, that's perfectly normal for this sort of thing.

All I *really* know about it is that I'm supposed to show up at 6:00, and that I get to spend the evening sitting at a table passing judgment on other people's gothic qualifications. That sort of thing ALWAYS amuses me, so I'm perfectly happy to be a judge.

it's not a joke, we have been around for 4 years now. we were created by the Court of Seattle as a way to "represent the seattle gothic community in a spirit of fun, pride and unity in cooperation with the LGBT and other surrounding communities"
the contest was announced several months ago, but the media just went out two weeks ago. it is an early night because the vogue wanted to do it before goth night, we have hosted this contest there for 3 out of 4 years. we have real sponsers, and real prizes- we are legit.
anyone can run, the contestants are not nominated. (arm twisting is permitted, though)

sure it's campy, but we put on a good show.
