I really, REALLY want the Edwardian Velvet Coat from J.Peterman's winter catalog.
However, I am not willing to spend $498 + shipping on it.
But damn. That is pretty much my platonic ideal of a velvet coat. Seriously, I've been looking off and on for years for a coat like that, in silk/rayon velvet. (Not cotton velvet or velveteen!)
I would tell myself that I could just sell a bunch of other clothes and boots and get it, but I suspect that with the world being what it is right now, I wouldn't actually manage a lot of sales. People are saving their money or donating it, and I completely support those things.
But I still ogle the catalog listing on a daily basis.

Plus, everything I've ever gotten from them has been great quality. That's why I'm *almost* willing to blow the money on that coat. I know it'll last for years and years.

Wow, J. Peterman is still around. I wonder how their quality has stood up. It seems like the quality of manufacturing (fabrics and construction) has gone down so much, even for costly brands, although the prices remain rich. That's a splendid coat though, I would be tempted too! They certainly have kept the ad copy! A Henry James reference in 2016, I applaud it!
