Does anyone know if people actually make money selling vintage clothing on Etsy? Because there are an awful lot of garments I see that are lovely, and then I look at the prices and laugh and laugh and LAUGH. Because I am kind of agog that anyone is willing to pay over $70 for one of the full-skirted lace dresses that all of us had in the 90s. And if people really ARE, then hello, I need to stop procrastinating and get an Etsy store running.

There was a woman at the estate sale I went to this morning who was talking about that reselling on ebay and etsy was her full time job.

So there must be people doing it.

Some of the prices seem absurd to me and I see the same item for months at the same price. With Etsy I guess you can start high and see if you get bites and then have sales. If I want something and have the time I will wait and then contact the seller with an offer. The worst they can say is no but usually they counter or take the offer. Selling vintage is not a quick way to make money its often a long game. Made more money selling vintage sewing patterns on ebay than vintage clothing back in the day. The beauty of Etsy is you can open a shop and see what happens but it requires a lot of promotion to get your shop noticed.

Most of the people who buy things on etsy, sell things on etsy. That said, it is *very* hard to make money on that site. Perhaps not for you, as you have an internet following. Were you to use that to your advantage, you might be a-okay!
