The past week just kinda flew by. I really DID mean to post something earlier, but oh well. Cut tags used to protect the sanity of the uninterested. grin

The Husband handed me an envelope containing a hand-drawn Jack Skellington birthday card (ah, the perks of being married to an artist!) and tickets to that day's matinee for a stage production of Dracula! He informed me that our seats were in the back row (a whole 7 distant rows from the stage, oh woe), so if I wanted to, I could indulge in a really big hat if I wanted to. Of course I did!

Shallow Fashion Details!
- red/black taffeta circle skirt
- black lace blouse w/ ruffled cuffs
- black stretch velvet & lace fitted duster w/ faux-fur collar
- GIANT brimmed black hat w/ a red & black striped satin bow, rhinestone pin, and antique black feathers, held on by 4 different skull-topped hatpins
- red crystal choker

The production of Dracula was based on the diaries of Johnathan Harker while he's at the castle. Since that was the only focus for the two hours, it was the most faithful adaptation of Dracula I've ever seen, and it was fabulous. Joining us at the theatre were [livejournal.com profile] alexiarnps and the foppiest fop in fopdom, [livejournal.com profile] djuberheblich, [livejournal.com profile] phantomoftruth, and [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre and her charming spouse (who's LJ name escapes me at the moment).

After the play, we all scampered up to Gallerias for dinner, joined by [livejournal.com profile] weaselmom and boy. Mmmm, sangria and molé! And, of course, prezzies! Happy happy bubble bath from Lush, the new Unto Ashes cd, an adorable stuffed bat, a Fairy Goth Mother t-shirt, and dvds of Wilde and Valmont (costume dramas! Yaaaay! Earlier in the week, The Husband surprised me with Faerie Tale on dvd, which I didn't even know had finally been released. He gave me the dvd early because he didn't want to take the chance of *anyone* ruining the surprise. Isn't he cute?)

When dinner was done, we wandered over to Chrilexia's home and chatted until we felt the need for chocolate, which meant a trip to the Dilettante. Once we were all suitably sugared up, Chris and Alexia escorted me to The Vogue, where Monsignor showed his affection through alcohol and DJ Eternal Darkness showed his by playing Placebo for me. grin

Monday (my actual birthday) was spent being lazy until it was time to go with Mom & Dad to Marcello's for nummy nummy Italian food. Mom & Dad, proving they know their daughter very well, gave me a collection of fairy tales edited by Jane Yolen AND all the Tim Burton toys for The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy. Which I now need to figure out where the heck I'm going to display, but gosh they're cute!

Lessee, the rest of the week included watching EVERYTHING on the Two Towers Extended Edition dvd, which took about two days. (Okay, not everything. We haven't watched anything with the commentary tracks. Everything else, we watched.)

Chris & Alexia stopped by to drop off another prezzie for me that had finally turned up in the mail (a pretty vintage black cameo necklace), I got a very nice birthday card from my darling Shechem, and I spent a fair amount of the week feeling kind of under the weather. Not that feeling vaguely unwell stopped me from going to the Placebo show on Friday night. (Placebo! Plaaaaaceeeeebooo! Pretty pretty band!) The show was even better than the last time I saw them, even IF I wasn't right up in front of the stage.

Yesterday was The Trek to Index, WA, to attend a naming ritual for a very nice baby boy who now has the somewhat surreal fate of having me and The Husband as godparents. The ritual was nice, but freezing cold (silly silly wacky pagans, wanting to do stuff outside in sub-zero temperatures), so we said our good-byes as soon as it was done, then high-tailed it back to civilization.

Of course, being in a smoke-filled club on Friday, then outside freezing on Saturday means that my cold has re-asserted itself with a vengence. Just in time to lead up to Thanksgiving, oh yay.

Big! Huge! Update! All about me me meeeee! Now I'm going to go lay down and drink hot tea.
