does the locket not get warm in the sun? I would be worried about it getting all hot.

Also, very cute. :)

Dear Lady -

May I just say that I adore your style and website "Gothic Charm School". With your writings, and encouragement from my friends I've been able to bring the frills back from the depth of my closet. Thank you so much for doing what you do!

Also, this outfit is beautiful! ^_^

Please do continue writing and bringing properness back into society, and I wish you the best in all of your endeavors.

If you ever wander the way toward North Texas - do say hello, won't you?

Regards,

paxlolita

So cute!! I got your book from amazon yesterday and my boyfriend is sick to death of me giggling and then reading it out loud to him!!

Oh dear :S

Is your shirt cinched in by a corset, or by a ribbon at the lower edge? Either way, the lines work. :-)

My boyfriend made it from a poison ivy and harlequin comic for me :) I have a few others in my picture bit, feel free to pinch them :D

Pretty <3 I love that you always smile on your pictures :).

By a ribbon running through a satin casing on the hem of the blouse. Too warm for corsetry!

I've never noticed it becoming oppressively warm in the sun, but then it's not like the locket is going to be exposed to direct sunlight: if I'm out in the sun, I've got the parasol over my head.

Thanks! The necklace is a $4 locket from Forever 21 that I epoxied a skull on to. :-)

::blushes::

Thank you for the compliment!

(I love your icon, btw.)

Thank you!

(I have been told I look huggable before - something to do with my cartoon-like nature, I suspect.)

Thank you so much! And if I do ever manage to get to North Texas, I'll let you know!

I buy pink double-faced satin ribbon by the giant spool. That, and black double-faced satin ribbon. There is never a danger of running out of ribbon at my house.

Hee! I hope your boyfriend comes to enjoy the parts you're reading to him!

Thank you! It's taken me a while to get to where I look like I'm actually *smiling*, and not like I'm nervously faking a smile because The Husband is pointing a camera at me.

You are most welcome my dear!

By the way, your icon is really nice, the hat, it is made of awesome!

I can, without question, assure you that it will be money well spent. The writing is marvelous, and the illustrations (which are rampant throughout the book) are simply delightful!

This is definitely on my list of favorite outfits of yours, which leads me to ask: what kind of fabric is the skirt made of? Is that one of yours, or did you find it somewhere? I love how it falls.

How do people respond to you when you "run errands" dressed like this.
I go to A LOT of Gothic and Fantasy fairs and we dress up all the time but I can't imagine walking down the street in full Victorian glory to go pick up a prescription at the chemist for example...
|So I'd like to know how people react when they see you?

well I'm halfway through the book in 24 hours, we have been arguing about which sounds cuter. Baby Bat (my fav) and gothling (his) :)

Must...try...even...harder...to...resist...having...crush...on...you.

*it doesn't work*

(and yes I know you're married - that's why I'm trying to resist)

Hi. I'm one of your frequent readers at Gothic Charm School. I bought your book.(loved it) Oh and you look so cute and huggable. ^_^ Don't worry about the next article. You'll do just fine like always. I saw the cute chibi version of you on the Lip Service webzine & now I think I'm gonna draw one too.

Love,
A Snarkling

I’d like to echo strawberry_goth’s comments. I am sure that your article will be respectful, insightful and invite discussion. And since readers of GCS are sensible and well mannered, I am sure that any unintentional misstep can be smoothed over in good humour, and with kindness, openness and understanding.

There's a whole chapter of her book devoted to this. Having spent much time with Jilli over the years, I can tell you that the reactions range from delighted to rude to plain ol' gawping. She always respond with patience and graciousness, which never fails to amaze me.

I dont know much about her' yet so I didn't know about a book.
