Look! It's grey and cloudy and cool outside, yaaaaaay! It probably won't last, which is a pity.

::shakes head at friends who are sun-worshipping crazy types::

Anyway, here, have some Shallow Fashion Detail picspam.

Can you send some of that weather this way?

Stripey skirt! I love it!

where did you get the top dress?
is that one you made?

I love the top dress too. Pink buttons!

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

The top dress is a lucky find off of eBay that I changed the buttons on. I keep hoping I'll find another black linen full-skirted dress, but no such luck yet.

Stripey skirt that I made! All by my self, drafting the pattern and everything!

I absolutely LOVE the second outfit. It is so freakin' cute! OMG!! :-> I've been dying for something stripy since the Sleepy Hollow movie came out. So far, all I have is the stripy skirt I got from one of L's last sales. I sew, but stripes scare me. EEK! Oh! And I love doing the footless tight with ballet flat myself. I think it's adorable. But then I did graduate high school in 1985, if that tells you anything. ;-)

You're a girl after my own heart. Today as I was running up and down stairs at my un-airconditioned work in 80 degree weather, sweating profusely, I refused to take off my black cardigan. I hate summer and all associated clothes. I wish I could just fast-forward to autumn.

Careful, I can almost see your knees.

Short sleeves, no boots--yep, summer wear. :-)

From: [identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com

I love the first outfit especially! Where did you get the pink heart pendant you're wearing? Did you make it?

Also, I love all the pink accents. ;D Yay for summer wear!

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

I did make the pink heart pendant. I found the pink glass heart at Joann Fabrics, and I had the sparkly skull finding stashed away in a box.

Have I ever told you that you are one of my gods?

From: [identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com

Nice! I'd love to see it up close some time. :) is the skull on the outside/top?

I have managed to collect quite a few components over the years, all with the intention of putting them together and making things like jewelry/accessories. Good intentions and all that...lol. I just need to sit down and do it! Also, I love having so many crafty friends who inspire me their craftiness - so thank you! :)

Oh, pish-tosh. :)

(Typed while blushing a brilliant pink, thank you!)

Need your input!

Totally offtopic:

I bought this fabric, which is the awesome:
http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/Item--i-K-7560-1

but it's actually jet black on glaring white. I'd like to overdye it with a very, very light blue-gray so that it's mysterious and foggy looking. I don't have the dyeing skilz, and I have 13 yards and 4 lbs of fabric, so it's a really bad first project.

Do you know any affordable dyers?

From: [identity profile] euterpe35.livejournal.com

ooh I love those stripey legging thingies. Where do they come from?

Also, every time you write "SFD" I think "Seattle Fire Department" and get all uhm... happy.

Where are you getting your black and white stripy fabric? I want to make curtains for the Goob, and I can't find just plain black and white stripes!

Re: Need your input!

Hmmm, I don't know any affordable dyers off the top of my head; I've always dyed smaller amounts of fabric. Have you contacted the helpful folks at Dharma Trading Co.? Yes, they sell dyes and fabric paints, but I bet they might have suggestions for who you could talk to about getting that much fabric dyed.

(And oooh, very neat fabric!)

Re: Need your input!

That's a clever idea; I'll check.

It is the Best Fabric Ever.

eBay is where I get stripey fabric. Display & Costume has b&w stripey (acetate) satin, tho'.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

They're the fishnet stripey tights from Sock Dreams, with the feet cut off.

Look at quilting stores, particularly online, such as equilter.com You can often find striped cottons at such places.

Lovely as always, I wish I had weather that allowed me to dress like that!

Long sleeves in 40°C (104F) is a definite no-no if you do not wish to die a horribly painful sweaty death :P

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

104F!! Oh lord, I would never stop whining. If I hadn't collapsed, that is. You poor creature!
