I don't want to be at work today. One of my co-workers carted me out of the building for a quick walk (she wanted company), and it is GORGEOUS outside. This does not make editing help topics seem very enticing. Yeah yeah, I know, everyone else in the Seattle area is going through the same thing. Doesn't make it any less valid, though.

Shallow Fashion Details!

[livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage wasn't terribly thrilled with today's outfit, but I really like it.

  • Black pointy-toe flats with zippers across the toes.

  • Pink & black stripy tights

  • The Lucy in Wonderland dress from www.dangerdame.com* (black, princess-seamed bodice, knee-length full skirt, with a pink satin mandarin collar that ties in a bow AND a pink satin ribbon at the waist that also ties in a bow), worn over a pink petticoat.

  • A black stretch velvet bolero with long sleeves, black point lace trim all the way around, and closes with a single black button.

  • Hair in two low ponytails, worn under the usual top hat.

  • Makeup is a light dusting of Alima mineral foundation, so-pale-it's-almost-white pink eyeshadow with darker pink in the crease, black liquid eyeliner, black mascara, and Vamp lipstick.

  • The usual big silver rings, and a silver ankh on a chain that sits jut below the bow on the collar of the dress.

* Hmmmm, the Danger Dame website is down, which means I can't link to the picture of the Lucy in Wonderland dress. How very odd.

The Stroppy One's objection to the outfit is that the dress is too "Fifties Housewife" for his tastes. The dress is based off of that era, yes, but I think the velvet & lace bolero, top hat, and stripy tights make it much more Alice in Wonderland-meets-Victorian Gothic.

I have been looking at more '50s/retro/swing/rockabilly dresses lately, this is true. But that's because those are the dress styles with the basic shape I'm looking for: fitted through the bust & waist, with knee-length skirts that are full enough for petticoats.

Nope, still no motivation. I guess I'd better find some Real Soon Now, because I do have an awful lot of work waiting for me.
