- I was originally scheduled to have my migraine Botox appointment on Jan. 3. I obviously had to reschedule because of the work trip, but the earliest appointment was Jan. 31.

So this month is going to SUCK. A lot.

- I had a 7:30am meeting yesterday with a bunch of the UK folks to talk about release notes. Which is the work topic closest to my heart right now, because our releases and release notes processes are pretty much structured on what's the best solution for Engineering. You can see why this is a problem. The upshot of the meeting was "Jillian, please come to our UK office at the end of Feb. when we have a customer feedback session scheduled". Um, okay?

- The kitties are still getting along! It's a miracle! In fact, when I tapped out of work yesterday (sleep dep AND migraine), both of them curled up on me. That hasn't happened for almost a decade.

- The car is working. Ish. It's obviously on its last legs, and hooo boy did we not want to buy a car right after buying the house (and still carrying two mortgages), but it's going to have to happen.

- The Madwoman in the Attic, because she's currently unemployed and bored out of her mind, has been sorting through all the fabric she's had in storage. There's a lot. She keeps waving stuff at me, watches my expression, and then laughs. So far she has made me a skirt, leggings, and a dress. (From black velvet-flocked lawn!) There are two more dresses and some fichus/collars/dickies also in various states of construction.

All of this is keeping me from impulse buying things online! Which is fantastic! When I told her about the probably impending UK trip, she grinned and said "Tell me what new wardrobe items you'll need". The woman is INSANE.

I wonder if your lovely Madwoman might consider bespoke tailoring for the Goth community as a potential income stream? There's got to be a demand for something like that. Right? :)

So this month is going to SUCK.

Mental note: don't expect anything from the Vampire Witch Queen for the next 19 days.

fabric [...] UK

Did I ever tell you about the fabulous fabric stores near Goldhawk Road tube? Go there, walk a block or two east on Goldhawk Road toward Shepherd's Bush Green, and keep your eyes peeled. The neighborhood has a lot of Middle Eastern immigrants; that seems to be who those fabric stores are by and for.

Oooh, does she want a little job? I have some pants I would like hemmed between now and Tuesday morning but they're lined and that's a job I can't do myself.

If I get them hemmed I don't have to wear heels on Tuesday, which I would prefer.

When the car shopping time comes, P can hit us up. He did, after all, make a mission of mercy and bring us Gatorade and tissues.

Tailoring is an Art, and an underpaid one. Hems are boring AF. Rolling collars takes learnin'. Bespoke is never paid what it's worth.

It's a sweet idea, and extremely niche, but better to take tailoring to a local dry cleaner than to request it of a friend.

(and of COURSE no one here would DREAM of doing this, but often tailors are handed stinking stained garments, unwashed, covered in who knows what, and expected to do it all for $5 each and without measurements)

Awwww, it's good that you have cat harmony at home once more. If only you'd known years ago that all you had to do was traumatise them to get them to re-bond!
