But they're slowly dwindling.
So, the car doesn't work. The Stroppy One and the Madwoman in the Attic were going to head out and run errands on the day of extreme cold. the car didn't start, but the alarm kept going off. After consultation with various automotive mechanically -minded friends, the common consensus is that it might be the solenoid, which is not great. Fun! So much Fun!

We were going to go to a friends' Christmas get-together (someone was going to play taxi for us), but guess who woke up Christmas morning with a migraine? Thanks, Sandy Claws. After all my effort to be good this year. We spent the day on the new recliner sofa, watching movies. I finally got to introduce the Stroppy One to a family holiday tradition: watching Arsenic and Old Lace.
"This is your father's fault, isn't it? But it's not a Christmas movie."
Which means I never told him the holiday tradition story! I thought I had.
The Christmas I was 10, Mom was in the hospital undergoing chemo. Understandably, no holiday decorating had been done. So on Christmas Eve, Dad let me stay up late and help decorate the tree. The late-show movie? Arsenic and Old Lace. Therefore in my world, it's a Christmas movie.

Did I mention the first day of the work conference I'm going to during the first week of Jan. is sci-fi themed? It is. I ordered a set of uniform patches for Ellen Ripley, and whipstitched them onto one of my high collar Unnerving Governess dresses. I also ordered some broken Aliens action figures; the Alien Queen's head is being turned into a pendant, and the other xenomorphs are being dismembered and attached to a tiara. The Madwoman in the Attic offered me her screen-accurate facehugger to take as a prop, but yep, it is Screen-Accurate and freaked me right the hell out.

Yikes about the car though. that is definitely a very bad thing. I hope it is a simple fix at least.

Great tradition...
Although I think "His Girl Friday" might be my favorite.

Jeff Goldblum
Luis Guzman
John Leguizamo
Jean Reno
Ron Perlman
... I can literally go on and on and on. The biggest difference is that NOW we have a wider variety of actors and media to enjoy them in across many many cultures. I would say we have far more figures like that now. I also might be something of a media junkie who watches tv and movies from mutliple countries all the time. Umm...
(see also: Los Diableros is from Netflix Mexico, and worth the search)

Sorry about the migraine. And the childhood mum with cancer thing, that must have been awful. But I'm glad you got a happy tradition from it, at least.
