The CA trip was a lot of fun. A short list:
- The Crimson Peak maze at Halloween Horror Nights was AMAZING. I want to walk through it with the lights on so I can see all the detail.
- The other mazes (Insidious, Walking Dead, Halloween, AvP, The Purge "Terror Tram") were well-done, and the jump scare actors got me a couple of times.
- WickedLit is AMAZING. Classic gothic & horror literature adapted as plays, and presented in locations throughout a historic cemetery is as delightful as you'd think. Seeing a production of Fall of the House of Usher set in the rooms of a mausoleum, complete with fantastic sound and lighting design was one of the best Halloween things we've done.
- Crimson Peak! OMG CRIMSON PEAK! ALL THE GOTHY TROPES, CRAMMED INTO A CRUSHED VELVET AND LACE CONFECTION! I am swooningly in love with the movie (and halfway done with reading the tie-in novelization).
- Disneyland! Wheeeee, Disneyland! Tho' Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween was not as awesome as we'd hoped: the weather treated everyone around us to a sudden big cloudburst -- not us, we were inside the Haunted Mansion, with excellent timing -- and the ground was wet & slick enough that park officials cancelled the parade. The fireworks were great, and being in the park with less of a crush was very nice.
I thought I'd brought shoes that were good choices for a lot of walking (two pairs, even!), but after the third day of lots of walking, my feet disagreed. Ow, ow, ow. But still, so much fun!

WickedLit looks amazing. I swear getting older makes hours of standing on cement a lot harder.
