Stuff and things, things and stuff
Today is the next-to-last-day of my current work contract. On the one hand, looming unemployment and job-hunting, ugh. On the other hand, time to work on the novel I started writing on New Year's Day, time to finish clearing out the Storage Heap Room o' Doom, and time to make stuff to sell at Mourning Market and my eventually-to-be-launched Etsy store. So, mostly yay, I think.

My Dad, because he is a helper and an enabler, made the brilliant suggestion that I need to find an oversized bird cage to keep my doll in. Like this, or this, or this! (yes yes, clicky-links to eBay.) My friends who have long listened to me talk about my need for decorative cages to keep decorative people in understand why this suggestion is so appealing to me.
Speaking of my Evangeline Ghastly doll, I realized that I'm not entirely decided on her name. I thought it was Lucretia, but then the Stroppy One suggested Pandora. But neither of those seemed to stick, which I think means I haven't found her name yet. Vexing, very vexing.

Awwww! Jake von Slatt over at Steampunk Workshop wrote a very nice review and article about the Gothic Charm School book! (clicky-link!)

Everyone needs to go read the newest law of the Internet, because it is BRILLIANT: http://www.racialicious.com/2009/12/21/and-we-shall-call-this-moffs-law/

And finally, here, have a SFD photo (EDIT: bah, I don't like my expression or how I was tilting my head in this picture, but it shows the details of the outfit):

And Moff's Law? *brilliant*. I can just see it now... some brainless bozoid at a party or sommat starts rabbiting on about how we should all just take $foo on its merits, rather than dissect and analyse... I can just point and yell, "Moff's Law, bitches!" Hey, it'll end the insipid nattering, at least, right? Even if it just makes the random bozoid blink at me in non-comprehension. (Not that I ever get that, or anything...)

SFD inquiry
A very dear friend is looking for a pair of black button-up black boots (what most muggles would call victorian style) with a flat heel. Suggestions would be greatly and grandly appreciated.
Re: SFD inquiry
If boots with button detailing and a *low* heel are okay, then the Whimiscal boots (http://www.clockworkcouture.com/?q=node/192) from Clockwork Couture are fantastic. The Spatterdash Booties (http://www.clockworkcouture.com/?q=node/191) look like they'd be great, but I haven't tried a pair on.
Re: SFD inquiry
I am given to understand button-detailing (which is good) however zero heel (which sounds like it may be problematic). Are you just going off the standard keywords of buttons/gothic/victorian/steampunk or are there more specific words a neophyte like myself might not know?
Thanks again, Miss J. I truly appreciate it.
Re: SFD inquiry
I didn't use any keywords to find those previous boots; I, um, just happen to be very familiar with Clockwork Couture's stock. Go figure. :)
Re: SFD inquiry
thank you!

Moff's law...Is there a way to make the entire population of youtube read it?
Also, I vote birdcage #2.

Perhaps favorite fiction or poetry characters might be a place to look.

But I found the article behind it much more interesting. White guilt. It brings back to my mind this work of some philosopher whose name I forgot that whites should start to see themselves as a race aswell. That it is not like Blacks and Asians and Jews. Oh, and us. No, it's Blacks and Asians and Jews and Christians and Whites and Idiots and Murderers and Saints and so on (order of enumeration has no meaning whatsoever). When do people learn that outer appearance is the result of evolutionary advantages and not of Good and Bad or True God and False God or even No God?! You hear it everywhere, it's not important who you are, but what you do.
