Photos, and really silly pop music

So there I was yesterday, happily (still) listening to Within Temptation, when I swear I could hear my brain produce the screech of a needle across a record, and then my brain demanded "Womanizer". Yes, as in the Britany Spears song. Look, I don't understand it either. I mean, in my head there's some context and back story as to why I personally find the song hilarious, but for the most part? I blame [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre and SA. (I blame them for most of the ridiculous poppy music I end up with on my iPod, actually.)

Speaking of ridiculous poppy music, yes, I took advantage of Amazon's free mp3 credits and sale and purchased Adam Lambert's album, because I want to see that fabulous sparkly gay boy do well in the charts. Because honestly? I don't know how often I'd actually listen to the entire album. But my GOD, he's pretty. And straight out of Velvet Goldmine, bless. (I don't need to explain my fondness for eyeliner-bedecked boys who are heavy on the stage theatrics and spectacle, do I? Okay, just checking.)

(However, after I'm done listening to Glambert's album, I think I'm going to go back to Within Temptation. Or Sisters of Mercy. Or go on a MCR bender, I don't know.)

Wow, I want to be done editing this white paper I'm working on. It's ... not fun, that's for certain.

---

Today's outfit. I made the stripey skirt. The hat is from GypsyWitch designs (clicky-link!) (and oh! I want to eventually get another one in black and pink stripes!), and the necklace (that I should try to get a better photo of) is a music box pendant that is decorated with a large skull. And plays ever-so-slightly off-kilter, which I think is darling. (The necklace is from Bella Lili on Etsy, and yes, that was a clicky-link.)

Yes, they say "snarky". In pink thread. Look surprised, I dare you.

Snarky pants!

I was almost so distracted by your hat that I didn't see you throwing the horns, ha! But since you've been posting photos I've realized what a great collection of hats you have, and I'm curious to know how you store them, if you don't mind. Do you keep them in hatboxes on shelves? Hanging on a hat rack? Poised on rows of disembodied foam heads?

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2009-11-24 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I need to come up with a better way of storing all my hats. A lot of my mini top hats and mini tricorns are tied onto a wreath of black velvet roses, so they're decorative even when I'm not wearing them. The rest of my collection is scattered across various shelves and the tops of cabinets.

Like I said, I really need to come up with a better storage solution.

[identity profile] roberts-muse.livejournal.com 2009-11-24 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
But that *is* a storage solution--and can be a decorative accent, as well (esp. seeing as how your hats are *highly* decorative)! Here's my question...how do you keep them from getting dusty on all those cabinet tops--or is the dust an accessory like cat hair is in my world?

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2009-11-24 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I dust them before I wear them. :) And yes, cat fur is an (unavoidable!) accessory in my world, too.

Snarky! Haha! :)

"Womanizer" is on my running playlist.

Your embroideries are so delightful!

I'm glad you picked up the Glambert! Whatever it takes to show TPTB that not everybody is offended by his AMA performance. Which, sad to say, seems to have been wiped off the intarwebs before I could see it. Dammit.

[identity profile] typsy-gypsy.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Here's the original performance which I witnessed live (so I know it's not edited). Enjoy!

I love that skirt. How long did it take you? Oooh you made snarkypants! Did you finish the crankypants yet?

I'm going back to listening to Within Temptation("The Howling") before "Womanizer" gets stuck in my head.

What would you do if your top hats started talking to you?
(I know that's a silly question, but I'm bored anyway)

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
If my top hats started talking to me? Start looking around to see if I'd somehow been teleported to Hogwards, and then demand to know what house I'd been sorted into.

I need to get off my duff and embroider those "Hi, Mom!" bloomers I keep threatening to make.

:)

also... your hubby should be bringing home something for you from game. It is from Julz.

Oh, I'm so glad you bought Adam Lambert's album. I saw a video of the AMA performance, and my reaction was "the song is mediocre, but the performance is top notch, and I would pay to see it even if I hated the music." And oh yes Velvet Goldmine and PRETTY.

[identity profile] typsy-gypsy.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to pick FYE up tomorrow. *nodnod*

[identity profile] rocket-jockey.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
How do you like your Gypsy Witch hat? I've been debating asking them to make a nobbly-silk topper and a nappy-silk John Bull for me, but haven't taken the plunge, yet.

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I really like my Gypsy Witch hat. I don't wear it as often as my "standard" top hat, but I suspect taht is going to change.

[identity profile] rocket-jockey.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you - it's nice to know what a knowlegeable hat-wearer thinks before getting a nice one. I can be a tad rough on headgear - I tend to think of hats as clothes rather than ornaments - so seeing that you would have no qualms wearing yours regularly is reassuring.

Now, if I could only get my employers to relax the dress code...

Amen to Glambert. He's so adorabobblepie I just wanna stuff him in my pocket. I'm not wild about his album either, but I want him to do well, sweet dear little thing.

[identity profile] water-of-fire.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hold up, I just YouTubed his AMA performance. Simulated fellatio onstage! This kid's going to get some epic shit if he hasn't already, but bless him, he's *fascinating* to watch. Am getting his album from iTunes for the sheer purpose of giving him another sale!

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I think he's faaaaaaaabulous. I want to play dress-up with him and then go out to clubs.

[identity profile] water-of-fire.livejournal.com 2009-11-26 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I hear you. :) Here he is on the Letterman show last night. Yay! If he just wants to stand around looking like that, I'm okay with that. Such a pretty baby.

[identity profile] water-of-fire.livejournal.com 2009-11-26 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
("Yay!" is a clicky-link, btw.)

WOw, I really really like this outfit. I usually don't comment, but I really really like it!!
