After yesterday's post about how sometimes you just need to eat some ice cream, chocolate fig to be specific, a bunch of you were verrrry curious about said ice cream. It is made by Greek Gods Yogurt (clicky-link!), and it is fantastic. Tho' since I am now OUT of chocolate fig ice cream (woe!), I may wander up to the grocery store later on and try a different brand of chocolate-y goodness.

I really need to work on the upcoming Gothic Charm School post with the advice everyone sent in for Goths of color. But I will admit, I'm feeling a bit nervous about it. This is an important thing, and I don't want to screw it up. I am well-aware of my status as a well-intentioned-but-clueless white lady, but I'm still worried I'll say the wrong thing inadvertently.

Today involves writing (eep!), more closet-culling, and perhaps taking photos of the results of the closet-culling. And eventually going and liberating Trinian, our fluffy white cat, from the vet. We took her in yesterday to get a lion cut, and yes, I'll take pictures of her with her new haircut. Poor kitty.

YAY for clicky links!! And Squeeeeeee!!! I see there is no coconut oil in the ingredients which means I can eat it!!! Yay!! I'm totally going to look for that when we go food shopping again! ;0)

I found a wonderfully diabolical ice-cream cocktail called "Death By Chocolate" while I was living in Pennsylvania. If you're as addicted to sweets as I am, I highly recommend it.

Hm! It's been a long time since I thought about that, probably not since I was in New Orleans, and even then never really...I dunno. Potent mix, but nothing that's really been a problem. Outside of attracting "hate" for my cheekbones and hair. :p

Don't worry about it. Think about it this way, it is not about Goths of Color, but about darker colored goths. Act as you would towards any other goth, and you will be fine.

I'm not sure I agree that it's all about color, though that becomes quite important when it comes to the availability of appropriate foundation.

I think there could be something fundamentally different between someone choosing Gothyness from a position of relative privilege vs. from a position of relative underprivilege/social and economic ostracism. Or maybe that's making it too complex.

(Whee, I'm commenting a LOT! I shouldn't have had that leftover cupcake...)

I just meant that gothic has nothing to do with the color of your skin (or little to do with it, as there is make-up to consider) and more with an aesthetic that is pleasing to ones self.

For me the best part about being a "darker goth" I have naturally black hair!

Just use your witty tongue in cheek style and as for the well-intentioned-but-clueless white lady bit..you are a-ok in my eyes to speak on the subject of gothism.

Maybe talk about the different goth styles around the world.

I've been a long time reader of the Gothic Charm School, but only found out last week that you had a Live Journal ( I also just found you on Twitter - I'm not a stalker, I promise, just a fan). That said, I didn't know you had a white cat. A white kitty with your beautiful black wardrobe is probably one of the bravest things I've heard of. You must go through a fortune in lint rollers... and lion cuts at the vet. :)

My husband is mixed. Before he matured into a corporate/causal goth, he was a fan of using white eyeliner, sliver shadow/ lip liner...that sort of thing. His thinking was "white goths use black. I'll just invert." Looked good too.
