I was about to whine a bit about my energy suddenly leaving me, but then I realized that so far I have:

- Made that poll post asking about the black-on-black striped skirt.

- Written a bunch of notes and story snippets for the fiction project I'm working on.

- Transcribed all of my hand-written notes for the fiction project into a Word doc.

- Done 4 loads of laundry.

- Made a batch of sausage rolls.

- Chatted with queeniex and her boy while he sculpted the prototype head for her new doll.

Huh. I guess I Did Stuff today. That might be where my energy went.

In other news, why do I suddenly want a cage petticoat type thing to layer over other skirts? Either an actual boned one (like this one from Azdaja (clicky-link!)), or one that is a "cage" over skirt that is made from strips of ribbon or twill tape. However, I am too lazy (and possibly too math-challenged) to make one of the "cage" over skirts on my own. (Even tho' there's kind of a tutorial over here on EGL.) Can I find a pre-made one anywhere on Teh Interwebs? No, I cannot, and am somewhat vexed about it.

I *should* try to motivate myself to either do more writing, or to work on the final bits I need to do to the "cranky" bloomers I'm going to be selling at Mourning Market next Sunday, but I suspect my motivation is napping. Maybe I'll just spend the rest of the evening flopped on the couch with the cats.

I adore over-skirt bone cages. :D It'd be awesome if you made one. I've seen people make them by welding or soldering strips of metal together, and they looked amazing. I bet you could commission an egl person to make one, if you can't find a premade one.

The overskirt ribbon option is actually quite easy - you can do it! I've made a couple myself out of vinyl which is pretty fun, but more work as you have to make the strips (and I don't like unfinished edges, so that was a bit of a pain. But they are very fun to wear. The math is not so complicated. Though it gets a bit tedious with the measuring tape.

They look as though they would be fairly simple to make from rigiline. Full circle would be too big but if you have a flared skirt pattern the right fullness you could easy measure hoop widths and spacings from it. Even spacings down the length, then measure the pattern piece for width of hoop, so if you have pattern piece for half the back of skirt just multiply width by 4 at the point in length you want hoop to be at.Does that make sense or am I gibbering?

Now I want to do a mathematically inspired cage skirt, maybe a fibonacci whorl. Twill tape, you say....

take the pattern piece for the back (which is half back because it either lies to fold or to seam) Trace shape onto bit of lining paper or plain wallpaper so you don't spoil original pattern. Decide how far apart you want your hoops and draw lines across your new pattern that distance apart. Measure the first line, multiply by 4 and cut piece of rigiline to length, repeat with next line, and then next til you have a piece of rigiline for each line, join into hoops & space apart with ribbon at distances marked on your pattern
