Let the culling begin!

Without even tackling the upstairs storage room heap o' doom, I have filled one large-ish box with shoes & boots that I'm going to be selling. If they are painful to wear for long stretches of time I will not wear them, no matter how darling and fabulous they are. Not even the wonderful raspberry suede granny boots with the kitten heels. They. must. GO!

I also went through all the book cases in the living room, and now have three full grocery bags of books that will be going to Half-Price Books. After, that is, I conquer the storage heap, because I know that there are more books lurking under the mounds of petticoats, skirts, and fabric. When [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage tackled the basement, we ended up lugging six bags and one box there. I don't *think* we'll match that this time, but who can tell? For all I know, the various game books that have been upstairs for years have spawned or something.

[livejournal.com profile] alexiarnps, when did we want to hold the Gothy Yard Sale? I can't remember if we picked a date or not.

I am not looking forward to the next few days. Sure, I'll have that righteous glow of accomplishment when I finally do unearth the floor in my storage room, but getting to that point is going to be long, tiring, and swelteringly hot. Oh, and if all of you could send "No spiders!" thoughts my way this weekend, I would muchly appreciate it. So would [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage, as I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to be startled from his work deadlines by me shrieking and flailing my way out of the room ...

How dare she have normal-sized feet? The nerve of her.

. o O ( Must contain yard sale squee. Must contain yard sale squee. )

alexiarnps, when did we want to hold the Gothy Yard Sale?

Is it possible I could get in on that?

[identity profile] icprncs.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Please don't do it the last weekend in August. That's all I ask.

(If, IF I can get things unpacked so that I can *start* the culling, I hope to have one at our place in September some time.)

Ah, culling. I only seem to get around to that when I move.

With regards to the books, any chance I could look them over before you dispose of them? I'm always watching for more books, and you seem to have good taste in them.

can I add another whimper to the idea of raspberry suede granny boots...was heart broken to discover in recent unpacking of boxes of old tat hidden at my folks place, only ONE of my pair of purple paisley printed (don't you just love the alliteration) granny boots, the first pair I ever bought...and still the best pair I've ever found...

...would you consider trading for them???? I make stuff y'know!!!

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
They're a US size 8 (which I *think* maps to a UK size 6?), and I would most certainly consider swapping with you! I've seen the stuff you make and have been very impressed.

[identity profile] pvcdiva.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
my size, my size!!!! Whoopee - what kind of trade would you like to do?

[identity profile] pvcdiva.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
...and trade is good as until other people notice my clothes and start paying for them, I'm a touch broke...which is all very dull...

[identity profile] angldst.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
you wear a us 8? So do i. Would you consider selling off/trading stuff long distance?

*hugs*

-d, thinks you have fantastic fecking taste in fashion. :)

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2005-07-31 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I *actually* wear an 8.5, but bought various 8s because the shoes were SO cute.

::sighs, thinks about the super-cute OldeSkool Fluevog flats that will never, ever fit::

I might be up for selling off/trading long distance, why yes. ; )

Oh my. I am direly in need of EGA-type clothing before September 1st. I'm also in the midst of a giant house-and-garage cleaning, althought the majority will simply go to the local thrift shop. I might be persuaded to put a bit aside to bring to a yard sale or swap event.

What size?

[identity profile] robespierrette.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
: )

Seriously, my inner shoe-addict just perked up. I have had to retire a whole bunch of ultra-nice dress shoes (like my Ferragamos), because my feet changed shape after the arrival of Little Miss. They're all wrapped up, waiting to be swapped or consigned.

I did just find some black suede, pointy-toed, leather cut-work decorated mules at Value Village, so I should be happy. . .

Size 8s and 8.5s. Should I let you know when the day of the yard sale arrives? : )

Re: What size?

[identity profile] robespierrette.livejournal.com 2005-07-31 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, please.

If you have 8's that are too tight, they might fit me - I'm in the 7.5 range. And I'm sure you have other cool stuff, too. : ) I'm always on the lookout for costume-y things these days.

[identity profile] keridwen.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
mmm...shoes...

I'm hoping that you'll let us know when the sale's going to be. I'm in desperate need of some shoes. <grin>

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you kidding? I'm going to spam everywhere I can about the sale. More people hopefully equals more profit.

... which will probably equal more shoes and corsets, but that is the great Circle Of Life for the Gothic Wardrobe, and who am I to question that?

[identity profile] djeternaldarkne.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
wait there's a floor in that room? You sure?

[identity profile] durtro93.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I still need to cull my clothing and shoes... and like you, it will be to make way for more goodies!
