OLD GOTH IS OLD

(And using the icon with the StuntHusband, because we are the resident Eldergoths.)

There was a post on Tumblr from a young 'un talking about how their mom used to be really goth, but she hasn't had the time to indulge in stuff since she turned forty, and did anyone have any suggestions to help?

Which was really sweet, and I tried to be helpful. But then the fact that HOLY BATS THERE ARE KIDS ON TUMBLR YOUNGER THAN MY MARRIAGE struck me (once) again, and I had to have a minor freak-out.

I don't want to be younger. I'm happy with my age.
(Tho' I will take that metabolism back, thanks.)
But dear lord, the passage of time freaks me out sometimes.

A return to my gothy roots

I mean that literally. Big hair, and a choker with a pendant of the symbol for the Order of the Dragon, filled with soil from Castle Bran.

Not visible: the rosary with silver bladed ankh (a replica of the one from The Hunger), or the Gloria di Notte skirt made by kambriel.

a.g.f. = g.a.f.!

The subject line is partially because I am wearing my old "a.g.f. = g.a.f.!" shirt right this very instant. (Today was a day of hair bleach and pink dye, and writing.) But the other reason for the subject line is because of a request I have for all my fellow ElderGoths!

I'm looking for old goth fashion catalogs. Yes, paper ones. The ones we all had to send SASEs off for. I'm slowly building a goth nostalgia archive, and I would dearly love to have more catalogs. If any of you have gothy nostalgia ephemera in need of a good home, please let me know!

Well hmmph.

"Due to a lackluster turn out of applications for the March 10th Mourning Market, we regret that we are canceling the show. We will let you know when our next show will be held and when applications will be accepted."

So now I ponder if I should (finally!) set up an Etsy store and sell the Deluxe ElderGoth Nostalgia bags that I was planning on creating. Each bag would have a vintage gothy magazine (of the Propaganda/Carpe Noctem/Ghastly/Permission sort), dark lipstick, eyeliner, incense, and a bunch of other Goth Nostalgia fodder (lace, ribbons, jewelry, vintage fliers, and so on).

Not that I should be thinking about this sort of thing right now. I need to be concentrating on WRITING, not any other sort of project. Because telling myself that will TOTALLY make it happen, right? Right.
