I MISS SOLID FOOD. I WANT PANCAKES. OH MY G-D, I WANT PANCAKES.

In all honesty, I seem to be healing really well from the wisdom teeth extraction. I'm just not at all patient, and I would like this to be OVER.

I've been amusing myself by (badly) sketching ideas for the necklace I want to make involving my teeth. The problem is that I want to incorporate a tiny shard of broken mirror, but I am superstitious enough that I don't want to have to break a mirror. /witchy problems

SOMEONE BRING ME PANCAKES.

It's not quite the same thing, but Cream of Wheat mixed a lot of milk to make it really soupy, and then drizzled with maple syrup? One of my favorite things as a kid.

Thank you for the suggestion, but NO. I have serious texture issues with Cream of Wheat (and all hot cereals, actually.)

No worries - that makes complete sense!

[identity profile] loree.livejournal.com 2014-03-07 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember that stage of recovery! (I got all four of mine out a couple of years ago.) Get your pancakes, cut them into miniscule pieces, and then you can swallow them whole - you get the taste and the texture without the chewing.

I may try that later this afternoon, because I am SO sick of broth, yogurt, and pudding.

But healing fast = worth ANYTHING

I suffered fro 2 weeks of jaws swollen shut with infection
when I got mine out.

And I will break a mirror for you because I got over superstition when I did visual display and had to go under ladders, open umbrellas indoors and break mirrors for things. So yeah I can do that for you if you need a specific size or shape, no worries.

is there any tea that tastes like pancakes? I have blueberry pound cake, banana chocolate cream pie, caramel cake and more.

Go to a glass shop. They will surely have bits of mirror in the trash bin.

Hope you heal quickly!

[identity profile] staxxy.livejournal.com 2014-03-08 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Also, i see you have other mirror shard offers... but i have antique mirror shards, with actual witchy magic in them, and i think you want one of them (both because they are sturdier, and because magic)

that is pretty fucking awesome by the way! are you making jewelry w/ them?

[identity profile] staxxy.livejournal.com 2014-03-09 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
I have, but I don't currently have any pieces made up. I have also done acrylic paintings with them as part of the abstract image. I did a series of like 7 paintings for a few years when I was very young. they were all given as gifts, except one that was purchased (my first art sale! woot!). I did the paintings on heavy poster paper, so I don't even know if any of them survived. My favorite was destroyed, alas (it had been a wedding gift for a friend, and she left me know when it was destroyed).

They are mostly in storage right now, so I can't make anything with them until I am able to pull them out.

Wisdom Teeth

You're better than I was... when I had one wisdom tooth and two rotted teeth taken out, I had been on a liquid diet for three weeks by that point. I have NEVER been in pain that bad, and was trying to treat it with garlic... it ended up with me begging my mom to help, and she took me to the family dentist, then paid for a doctor because my bp was 205/170. They wanted to send me to the ER but my bp went down with pain control, so they wrote me a script for ultra percoset and referred me to an oral surgeon, who was awesome.

I had the surgery in the morning, and that night? I announced, "I have been on a liquid diet for three weeks. MY MOUTH NO LONGER HURTS. I want a steak."

My poor beleagured partner was like "But the doctor said --" stopped mid-sentence at the look on my face and finished with, "So, Outback then?"

I ate that whole damn steak (and crab, which, if you are a seafoody person, crab is soft enough that it should be safe) with my front teeth and using my tongue to break it up over the roof of my mouth. It took longer but goddamn it after three weeks of barely being able to eat miso soup, it was so worth it.

My oral surgeon was not especially pleased when I told him this at the follow-up, but everything healed just fine, so it can't have done too much harm.

(Pancakes, IMO, if you cut into very small pieces and instead of chewing, tongue them over the roof of your mouth and are very careful about where bits go, should be fine. It just takes some finesse, which admittedly, after having that one rotten tooth that was basically a hole in my mouth for three years and had to avoid food getting there lest it get stuck and rot, I had well learned. Lack of dental insurance fucking sucks.)

Lack of dental insurance does indeed fucking suck.

I caved and made myself pancakes yesterday, and ate them in the manner you described. They were GLORIOUS. And then I went and rinsed my mouth out thoroughly with warm salt water.

Yeah, it's amazing how a liquid diet will make normal food oh so amazing! (And yes, warm water rinses afterwards are a good idea! As long as you're *careful* a lot of food are ok :)

[identity profile] skoomajunkie.livejournal.com 2014-03-10 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I had pancakes three times over the weekend. I'm sorry, I don't mean to rub it in, but they were delicious.

I hope you're doing well, and may your teethcrafting be mighty.

[identity profile] kangaekaeru.livejournal.com 2014-03-10 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I am glad you're healing well.

Also, your necklace is going to be awesome. (I'm a little jealous. They wouldn't let me have my teeth when they were extracted.)
