Help me, oh LJ Hivemind!

I just got done putting together and sealing up the Crafty Surprise Bags that I'm going to be selling at the Steampunk Swapmeet this Saturday. Each bag has a random selection of Nifty Things! Antique-looking sunglasses! Vintage ribbons or lace! Jewelry-making goodies! Vintage (or vintage-looking) jewelry!

The thing is, I can't decide what to charge for them. Other than more than $1, I mean. So I turn to you, peoples of the internets!

$3 seems like a good price. Enough to be change or left over money. At $5, it seems like a substantial amount, and if you didn't know you needed to charge that much, you probably shouldn't. IF you can't really see yourself doing $3 because you do have more than that invested into these, then $5 would probably be ok.

I think $3 is a smart price because it lends itself to impulse shopping and this is a new item.

I think that $3 would be a good deal. However, I'd also make a couple of bags $5, and have them filled with the more expensive stuff, for the Big Spenders out there.

So, both! And tickybox!

5 bucks is what you should charge and put in each bag a singed flyer for the book as that is a collector idem as you are a famous author and blogger.

I say some at five that are bigger and some at three that are smaller. That way you can buy a smaller bag to check it out before diving in to a bigger purchase.

Your stripes have inspired me to make this.

Wow - that is really beautiful!

Thanks, green and black is one of my favorite color combos.

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
That is beautiful! Well done, you!

[identity profile] stella-twilight.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. The black on black stripe fabric is a table cloth I fell in love with a while ago. I have some vertical stripe tights in green and black and Victorian boots to finish things off.

Ooooo!!!!! Beautiful!

The outfit sounds amazing!

Thanks I am working on a loli style hat to go with it as well.

I'd paypal you 5 bucks & shipping for one filled with awesomeness. :)

-d, thinks a set of smaller 3 dollar bags and larger 5 dollar bags would probably be a good setup for you at the sale. :)

[identity profile] decemberdreams.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
I would buy one too!

[identity profile] moonxpearl.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Seconded! I really wish awesome stuff like this happened near me, but alas, I live in Florida...

Pointing to moonxpearl's comment and sighing "ditto".

I am amazed that Tickybox isn't leading.

I like the suggestion of making $3 and $5 bags; more variety, more impulse sales!

[identity profile] smu.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man. I wish I was there. I'd pay $5 for one. I'd also pay $5 and shipping for one. :D *hints*

[identity profile] dporowski.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Wheel. Spinner. Prices from .50 (one tiny space) to $5 (small space), rest between 1-5, with the occasional shot at of "Do a little dance!" and "Caper for my amusement".

Proceed to charge EXACTLY what the wheel tells you to.

[identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooh. You're GOOD. Well, I guess I'm making a spinny wheel before Saturday!

[identity profile] dporowski.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

If you do it right, you can make the average come out to a decent price and not look like it at ALL.

[identity profile] domestinatrix.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
The advantage of $5 is that it's one bill, no change.

[identity profile] coraa.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
$5 is a reasonable amount, plus an easy amount to pay and/or to make change for. So I'd say that's a good amount!

[identity profile] birdy955.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps have larger and smaller ones with different prices?

[identity profile] coiledsoul.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
I chose $5 because you'll have to make far less change that way. the meet sounds like fun!

[identity profile] cherry-faery.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I chose the five dollar option because of what you are listing in there. If it was just the lace and fabric-y stuff, maybe that's worth like three dollars but people will pay that much more than five dollars for jewelery and sunglasses. I do think, however, that giving people the option of three dollars and five dollars is a good idea though. So my advice is that if you're really stuck, do smaller bags for three and bigger bags for five. :)

[identity profile] princekermit.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
As much as I enjoy the "wheel of fortune DOOM!" idea articulated above, the marketer in me says, "Three dollars each or two for $5."
