Obligatory whine about the heat

I really hope all of you people who were complaining about the lack of "real" summer weather in Seattle are happy. I mean that with all sincerity and no bitchiness. However, I am going to be VERY GLAD when the temperature drops next week.

We went and ran errands, and now I am finishing up stuff for work and trying to decide what I can wear out dancing tonight that will both meet my fashion standards AND not make me pass out from overheating. (I have "instant" cold packs to put down the front of my corset, and I'm not afraid to use them!) Yes, the StuntHusband and I are FINALLY going dancing again, after over a month off due to illness and travel plans.

Yes, I am very happy.

I'm sorry it makes you sad, and I'm glad you have cold packs to keep you from passing out, but I am really, truly happy.

Victorian undies work for me.....cotton petticoat and chemise. Linen's even better, but I haven't made my linen skivvies yet.

While I do like warm weather, the operative term here is warm, not 'lie around like a cranky little gothic banana slug because it's too hot to brain'. There is such a thing as 'too much of a good thing'! ~shakes fist theatrically at sky~ If I had my way, it'd never get hotter out than 70 degrees.

I have been happy with this little burst of heat. However, I'll be happier when it goes back down to the '70's again, because running around with art supplies when it's 90+ for the entire day? Not fun.

But, that will (hopefully) not be repeated soon.

See whenever I see you discuss the "heat" in Seattle I long to be there. The Husband lived there two years and we have visited twice and I ADORE the weather. I would take Seattle's heatwaves over our Midwest summers any time. Still working on plan to move the entire clan to the Northwest:)

Regardless of the weather though you always look amazing!

I tend to make sure that anything I wear out clubbing in summer is of natural/breathable materials, I drink as much water as I can hold, and I bring a fan with me to carry round and use as needed. I also tend to get by with as little make-up as possible, sometimes down to just a bit of eyeliner, (waterproof) mascara, and lippie, with concealer and powder if needed for blemishes. Anything else is liable to melt off in the humidity of Virginia summers.

We're having a toasty 100.4°F (38°C in the shadow) right now... It feels like being stewed in you own juice. Ugh. And forecasters once predicted us "there will be no summer" as we had such a long and snowy winter... Hah. The weather will stay like this for seven weeks, because it started around Siebenschläfertag (seven sleepers day = a day which is said to predict the weather for the next seven weeks). Plus, at the end of the coming week humidity will rise to 40% = major ugh!
All grass has become dead brown straw-like nothing (there even is no money left for watering parks and so on), dust clouds are billowing up wherever you set your feet...

our high is in the mid 80s and humidity is 66% today. hmm... seems a unusually low for this time of year, but we did just brave a hurricane so that really cooled things off! we should be back to our usual 100+ days with their 110+ heat index.

having been born and raised in south texas does NOT make me any more or less comfortable in stifling heat. it DOES make me appreciate anything different from our near-constant "hot and windy, today, folks!" not kidding. that's actually what our weather forecasters say!

i'm glad your weather is getting nicer and i hope it lasts! enjoy it!!
