Tonight's tarot card: the Queen of Bats! (The Queen of Swords for the traditionalists.)

The court cards always give me trouble. I think in order to be better at remembering their meanings, I need to start thinking of them in terms of story characters. The Queen of Bats is a woman who is clever and doesn't suffer fools, and always has a witty (possibly snarky) comment.

so... 90% of the women you know and 100% of the women you like, including you.

I think of the court cards this way:

Each suit has a verb, an action that the entire suit tells a story about.

At the simplest level, they're something like Pentacles = To Make or To Be, Cups = To Feel or To Love, Swords = To Think or To Comprehend or To Solve, and Wands = To Do or To Accomplish or To Enact.

Pages are students, just starting to learn their suit. Knights are passionate about their suit, and go looking for things to do with it. Queens are the one who actually do the thing, with the most grace ans skill. They are creators, lovers, philosophers, the ones who move the world. Kings are rulers, are managers, are the people who create the environment in which the thing can happen, who make it possible.
