Reason eleventy-billion why I love Dress A Day
There are many reasons to love the Dress A Day blog. It's written by a wonderful and charming lady. It's about dresses and sewing.
But today's reason that I love it?
Because she's trying to help me find the fabric I've been searching for. She's also talking about possibly setting up a fabric search & swap bulletin board, which is a BRILLIANT idea.

I wandered over and read all the links people posted (why oh why did I have to do that?) and just about fainted when you said "Because a custom-woven bat brocade is pretty much the Goth fabric Holy Grail ..." If you did decide to do that, I would most certainly go in on it with you as well. I have a brocade that is black and dark, slightly dusty rose pink, and it's gorgeous. I have often wished that there was a brocade in those colors (or baby pink!) or even black on black with bats that aren't Asian bats (not that there's anything wrong with them, I'd just like to see other bats).
I don't know if this would help you much, but I have some black and white striped (3/8") heavy fabric that I am looking to either dye pink, or sell. If I was able to dye it pink, what I want to make would only take about 2 yards - and I have 7 (I bought it for a dress project years ago when I was quite a bit bigger. The dress never got made, I got smaller, and now I don't really wear black and white stripes anymore.) I'm not sure how wide it is, but it's on a bolt? tube?...it's rolled up ;) and it's almost as tall as me, so I'm thinking something around or under 60". I got it at Display and Costume, and it was one of the fabrics that hangs a little off the edge. Anyways, it's a heavier weight, satin-y feel (but not shiny), and probably polyester. I don't think I have the specifics for it. It would work for an overskirt, jacket, or bustle, but wouldn't be so great for, say, jammy pants. ;) I think I got it for under $15 a yard, which is pretty good for that kind. I'm not really looking to make a profit on it, I just don't want it to go to waste and spent all that money on something that sits in the back of my craft area. If you're interested I can make a small batch of the dye I have and test a piece out and mail it to you, just let me know. I know you'd probably rather get it *already* pink and black, but if you can't find the right stuff, just let me know. :)
Also, if you do end up getting a special fabric for this project and there is any extra, maybe we could work out a matching dress for JessicaKate (or even a matching *outfit*! That would so rock!)? ;)

I hope you find the fabric because the idea just sounds lovely.

Plus, it's 58" wide, and weight-wise, it claims it would be good for "curtains, pillows and duvets", so hopefully it's not too stiff/heavy?
