Well THAT was exciting

Today involved a rapidly-scheduled dental appointment to get a tooth extracted. I had cracked a tooth a little over a week ago, and over the weekend finally fessed up to the Stroppy One that I probably needed to go to the dentist. He called our super-fantastic dentist this morning and got me an appointment for noon.

Everything went really smoothly*. But as I've never had a tooth extracted before, it's all kind of weird for me. I am hyper-paranoid that I will do something wrong with the aftercare; the Stroppy One is doing his best to reassure me, but part of my brain is being unreasonable. So in order to shut up that part of my brain and distract myself, I am sitting on the couch, loopy from pain meds, indulging in Labyrinth. Hi, David Bowie, hiiiiiii.

*Also, my dentist gave me my tooth. He knew I'd want to keep it. One of the many reasons Dr. Ryan is awesome.

Where is Dr. Ryan located, and what's his number? We're in need of a good dentist, and a recommendation by a friend is always a good thing.

So glad that it all went smoothly!

And I'm also glad for the recommendation for Dr. Ryan; he's my dentist now as well.

Dear Unreasonable part of Jilli's brain - shut up! She is perfectly capable of following directions, and if she is too loopy to do so, her incomparable husband will remind her.

*HUGS*

Feel better soon!

I've had a couple of extractions before. They're no fun. Last one they took my upper left fang. *sniffle* Makes talking a little ackward. Get well soon. Snuggling with Stroopy One and Clovis Bunny during the movie will definately help.

I wish you good healing. I hate the whole tooth extraction thing.
I get to go back for surgery on Thursday. wheee NOT

Totally cuddle in and take many many meds. I took some advice and
iced/heated my jaw and that helped.

How did you crack your tooth? Was it from unconscious grinding/clenching, or an accident of some sort?

I'm gad you were able to get it taken care of... and got a little memento out of the deal. I still have a "glass coffin" filled with 8 of my own teeth. In high school, I wore a camel tooth as a necklace ;)

Countdown to when Ms. Jilli makes the tooth into a fantastical piece of jewelery starts....now :D

Feel better soon! Getting things pulled out of your head is never fun :(

Ow I know that pain. I was in middle school. Dentist kept marveling at the size of my tooth's roots.

Oddly enough, I had a tooth pulled Monday afternoon, too. I'd broken a chunk off a week and a half before Xmas, and then the filling fell out that night, and I wound up calling a dentist a few days later and deliberately scheduling an appointment for after Xmas so I wouldn't have to deal with it during my vacation. (I could get away with waiting a bit because it never hurt. It was a tooth that a dentist had wanted to root canal years ago and the nerve was probably already dead.)

I'd had a number of teeth pulled as a child, though -- my canines were all yanked (permanents included) in an attempt to make more room in my tiny jaw for all my teeth. Not a new experience, and the dentist was great about numbing me up -- I ached a tiny bit that night and not at all the next day, and by now I'm even eating mostly-normally. The worst part was twenty-four hours of no carbonated beverages or tea -- caffeine withdrawal.

Yay for amazing dentists!

And even not loopy on pain meds Labyrinth makes me go "Hi, David Bowie, hiiiiiiiiii."
