Shallow Fashion Cravings

One of the lesser-known perils of re-reading a bunch of the Vampire Chronicles books by Anne Rice: Lestat talking about his modern-day wardrobe leads one to browsing eBay and Etsy for grey velvet blazers and antique buttons. But a grey velvet blazer over a black high-collared blouse with ruffles and a black skirt with petticoats would look fabulous, you must admit.

(Yes, I’m re-reading the Vampire Chronicles, and am almost done with The Body Thief. Maybe this time I’ll actually finish reading the book about Marius, instead of giving up after three chapters. Marius is … not my favorite, no. That would be the Brat Prince himself, Lestat.)

I am thinking my reading project for 2012 may be to try to tackle all of the books in that series once and for all. I always cut out after Body Thief.

Oooh, good to know re: Blood Canticle.

I attempted Memnoch once, I think, and got like two chapters in, and got distracted by something shiny.

(This whole project is mostly attemptable because I have all of her books in ePub on my iPad so I can read them without having to haul them. :) )

I just finished "The Body Thief" for the first time...great description of how annoying being mortal again would be for someone who hasn't been one in centuries, but I kept muttering, "Come ON, Lestat, you can't see the obvious con job here?" Yeah, I know the Brat Prince is supposed to be impulsive, but I still really had trouble buying the premise.

But it did make me want fancy elegant blazers:)

I just finished rereading the Witches trilogy a few weeks ago and started Interview, but then my phone died and now I no longer have them in pdf on my phone, so who knows if I'll ever get around to reading them. I've actually only ever read the first 3 vampire books. I was looking forward to reading them this year and now POOF all gone. I have like 300 hard copy books I need to read before I could possible pick up Anne Rice in hard copy, so that certainly won't happen. I need to reacquire the bootleg pdfs now. Damned phone.

If it makes you feel any better, Marius was one of my favorites and I still couldn't get through those. :D

I have yet to find a good gray velvet jacket. When my sewing skills get back up to a reasonable level, that's on my list of projects.
